Village Hall Roof Repairs This Year

The Village Hall roof will get much-needed repairs this year, including a crown above the building and engineering departments. Costs are expected to run about $30,000, and trustees directed staff to solicit bids for the work.

Only residents who live on Ellis Avenue are allowed through the construction zone. Work has begun in the Kremer subdivision - between Douglas Ave. and Charles Street - to replace aging sewer and water pipes and to reconstruct wider roads with curb and gutter. A number of residents remain opposed to widening the streets, saying the extra cost adds a financial burden many feel they may not be able to afford. Village officials' past estimates put the special assessment at around $5,500 for each lot, but President Bob Bradley said he is hoping to find ways to reduce the cost to property owners. Work is expected to continue through the summer and wrap up before the fall.
