Caledonia Police Searching For Suspects In Purse Theft

A couple allegedly stole a woman's purse, then used it at several retail locations before the owner could cancel the cards. Caledonia Police are asking for help in solving the crime.

Two suspects allegedly took a woman’s purse sometime between 9:05 and 9:16 a.m. Jan. 3 from her car, which was parked at North Park Elementary, 4748 Elizabeth St.

Caledonia Police are asking for the community to help identify the couple.

They allegedly used the woman’s credit card at three different places – a Citgo gas station, Kmart in Caledonia and a Goodwill store in Sturtevant. In total, the couple racked up just over $200 in charges, said an official with the Caledonia Police Department.

“The card was used at several locations before the victim could even shut it down,” police said. “It was used at Goodwill to purchase a TV/DVD combo.”

Police said the woman’s car was parked in the parking lot while she walked her son to the front doors of the school.

“She was only away from the car about 10 minutes,” an official said.

No suspects have been identified, but they are hoping someone will recognize the couple in the video and call the police department at (262) 835-4423 with any leads.

It's still theft. And no where did this article even quote the woman. J. Wright is complacent to theft? Why? Is it okay to steal Christmas decorations on someone's front lawn just because they aren't locked up in a glass showcase?

WIwishes -- I spoke to the detective investigating the case who interviewed the woman. If there's something inaccurate, please let me know.

The days of leaving your house/car/garage unlocked are over even if you live in the middle of nowhere and "have no crime in our area". Even stupider is leaving the keys in the ignition (or above the sun visor or under the seat). Crooks today will do ANYTHING to get something for nothing and there seem to be an awful lot more of them then in years past!

the only thing I can see is that the video that is 2 minutes long shows the guy paying with cash for about 2 minutes and the girl putting a box on the counter for about 5 seconds but then the video cuts off. I don't see a TV being purchased. Wake up people, you are being watched no matter where you go or what you do!! Be alert!
