Caledonia Will Consider Changes to Land Use Plan
A meeting is not yet set, but a list of proposals is being distributed.
Two significant measures could change Caledonia's land use plan if trustees vote to alter green space requirements and a five-acre minimums.
According to a list (attached to this story) provided by the village, board members will take into consideration reducing the five-acre minimum density for land splits and removing the 40 percent open/green space requirement in all areas with water and sewer.
Additional ideas include:
- Considering the commercial/industrial possibilities along Highway 32 from 7-Mile Road to the boundary with Oak Creek;
- Reviewing building types in village centers;
- Defining the Highway 31 corridor for more commercial use;
- Plan for commercial development where sewer/water exist;
- Review of possible uses for the I-94 corridor with or without sewer/water.
Village Administrator Tom Lebak confirmed via email that draft changes to the document are not complete.
Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.

That sounds great. Next time someone calls our village an wants to plunk down a buisness they should have the option to put it where they want

Please explain what wrong and not mean in the context of your message. I don't live in a quiet neighborhood either. What that would have to do with the plan?

T.R. What I was trying to say without sounding rude was,is how would you like a business plunked across the street from where you live then get bombared with harassment on a daily basis.Then you find out everytime you call the cops they just turn there heads the other way.

Caledonia green space is a treasure. If we do not fight for it, Chicago to Milwaukee will be as one.

There needs to be a balance between retaining green space and developing and moving forward.... and the highways are the prime and logical places for development.
