Home Invasions Prompt Police To Warn Residents To Be Vigilant

At least five home invasions in the area bounded by 3 Mile Road, Douglas Avenue and 4 1/2 Mile Road has prompted police to warn area residents to lock their doors and report suspicious activity.

A series of home invasion burglaries has prompted the to urge residents to be extra vigilant and report suspicious activity.

Lt. Gary Larsen said for the past five nights, at least one time every night there has been a home invasion or attempted burglary between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in an area bounded by Douglas Avenue, 4 Β½ Mile Road and 3 Mile Road.

Two men allegedly cut window screens and broke glass to get into the homes while people were in the home at the time.

Sgt. Brian Wall said officers chased one of the men for about a block at about 10 p.m. in the 5100 block of Ruby Avenue Monday night.

β€œOfficers lost the suspect when they went into the woods just east of Ruby Avenue,” Wall said.

Lt. Dan Warren said one of the males rings the front door and the other is going to the back door or window to get into the house.

"We're telling residents not to answer their door unless you have a positive identification of the person who is there," he said.

Police are asking residents to lock their doors and windows, and turn on outside lights.

Residents observing suspicious persons, noises or related incidents are asked to immediately call 911. Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call the Caledonia Police Department Detective Bureau, 262-835-4423, Ext. 139.
