Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch: We Are Moving Wisconsin Forward

Republican lieutenant governor says Wisconsin is "in better shape today than we were before, and we're not done yet."

With a collective sigh of relief, we can now look back at the time since Governor Walker and I took office, and size up the accomplishments of the last two years.

Although we've seen things unprecedented and unpredictable, our experiences have made us stronger. We have a lot to be proud of. Our successes give us new perspective, though, and through the lens of a state pursuing economic competitiveness, we see we have a lot of room to grow in our future.

Despite the rampant wrong turns from our federal government, Wisconsin is finally on the path to prosperity. We inherited a $3.6 billion budget deficit that has been balanced without raising taxes. After seeing nearly 150,000 jobs lost under the last three years of the previous administration, we are putting people back to work. We have restored confidence for job creators and are giving them the tools needed to succeed.

We are in better shape today than we were before and we are not done yet. We are moving in the right direction and under the leadership of this administration. We will continue to see our state grow toward a thriving economic comeback.

We are getting it right in Wisconsin, and we are making a difference in the lives of each and every resident throughout the state.

Going forward, we must help the private sector create more jobs. The first thing that we should focus on is fiscally sound and environmentally friendly mining legislation. It is of prime importance to bring these high-paying jobs to the state. By passing legislation that will create thousands of long-lasting mining jobs to grow in the state, we will do just that.

During the last two years we also saw property tax relief for the first time in more than a decade. Going forward we will continue to treat your tax dollars with the respect they deserve and maintain the protections we have instituted for the middle class.

Unlike the supposed leaders in Washington, we have made the tough, but prudent, choices that have put us on solid footing for our future. While taxes are being raised on just about everyone at the federal level, we are committed to lowering the income taxes for the middle class. This relief will ensure that the people of Wisconsin have more money in their pockets — money that can be directly inserted into our continued economic recovery.

We have had great success on the state level, and under the continued watchful eye of this administration and our legislative allies, we will remain steadfast in moving Wisconsin forward.

The tax cuts should be optional, there are a lot of Wisconsinites that think the government should get more of their money. Let's see how much they send in, or if they just talk a good game.

Just a talking head feeding people the party line and a bunch of lies. How exactly is this person qualified to be Lt. Governor?

She has a college degree, that seems to be all that the mouth breathing lefties care about.
That and she was elected twice by the good people of Wisconsin. So qualified or not, she is better than what the Democrats had to offer.

"How exactly is this person qualified to be Lt. Governor?" And you can say this with a straight face after voting for Barrett!! I guess it doesn't matter.

Look who she is married too. Isn't that qualification enough? And she also was a reporter on channel 12 for a short period of time, and did some advertising work too. Maybe she even went to modeling school. My, what other qualifications could we expect to have from a Lt. Governor. And she was elected to this post. Many people thought her qualifications were "spot on". Not once, but twice! Wow, that is truly amazing to me. I suppose scooter's cabinet is full of over achievers, i just haven't paid attention.

"We?" Although I challenge, in the strongest possible terms, Scott Walker's qualifications (educational and intellectual) and commitment, he has done something (even if is to prance on the leash of a national special interest group). You madam, have done nothing. Zero. This statement, which I sincerely doubt was written by you, does not qualify, as I have written segmented comments of longer length.

There was a time that I would just chuckle over yet another incompetent politician, but too many people have lost their jobs or wages to sit by and let this individual collect a sweet salary and benefits package, without "speaking" up.

Thank you, Scott Walker, for dipping below my tolerance point for incompetence/opportunism and "waking" me up from being a bystander.

I'm not a "liberal." I'm a fiscal conservative and Libertarian-leaning moderate who finds oneself being called a "liberal" for adhering to traditional ideas of social investment and political accountability.

The Democrats did offer an alternative, a candidate who not only had one degree, but several; a background in economics and law (J.D.), in additional to government experience at the national level. And the opportunity to retain as Lt. Governor an individual who had been lauded as being the most active and effective in recent state history. Alas.

Bren,

I suspect that, unlike you, Rebecca Kleefisch would have put the question mark outside the quotation marks, since you are not quoting her asking that question.

Bren can't help it. Every appearance of Rebecca Kleefisch brings back the hurt they experienced when the state rejected Barbara Lawton (well, actually she rejected herself, or the Dem party did, but let's blame the state because Dems never do anything unseemly).

Here's some Wikipedia information about Bren's girl crush...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Lawton

If you Google "Barbara Lawton", you'll get a response that may give some indication as to the story behind her decision to drop out of the 2010 gubernatorial race for "very personal reasons".

When was the above (not) mentioned "candidate" running for Lt. Governor as an "alternative" to Rebecca Kleefisch?

All recent Lt. Governors of both parties have been lightweights, Ms. Kleefisch is no different.

One thing Ms. Kleefisch has accomplished though is win an election in her own right as Lt. Gov. during the recall election when she defeated Mahlon Mitchell. In a standard election, the Lt Gov. is part of a ticket, in a recall it is a separate choice on the ballot and she won that race straight up (granted with lots of top-of-the-ticket help).

Like it or hate it, Ms. Kleefisch was elected to her post by the people of Wisconsin and, as a result, will feel inclined to communicate with the people of Wisconsin.

Tansandy - And why do you support ALEC with every ounce of your soul? Let's hear how we should let our corporations get together at fancy hotels and draft our laws, and have bootlicking legislators take them nearly verbatim and push them through state legislatures. What do you stand for, or should I ask, bend over for?

Dirk, I do not support ALEC with every ounce of my soul. You liberals are the ones that keep harping about them and Walker. And they are in almost every post! You worry about corporations running the state and getting together at fancy hotels. But you have no problem with letting the unions spend millions more trying to shape our state. And should I give you a list of all the fancy places the fat union cats meet at? Again selective outrage on the left.

This is the typical liberal thinking of "you have a lot of money. Why do you care what your taxes are?"

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE NEED TO WORK TO KEEP LOWERING TAXES.

And why should he pay 62% of his money BACK to the government?

Bren mentions Barb Lawton's many degrees. Two degrees in Spanish...well that qualifies her to speak to Hispanic constituents, but then only about grammar and language. Her other Fine Arts degree and law degree are honorary. That and a couple of bucks will get you coffee in most places. Her position with National Lieutenant Governors Association had her travel to China to look into a Global Manufacturing Institute to further more job exportation to China.

Another set of facts of raising taxes of the rich never achieves its goal. The rich just move or do what they have to do....WE NEED TO WORK TO LOWER TAXES IN WI. We dont have a Woods or Mickelson, but why would any company or person live here if we dont create a great business and tax climate.

Tiger Woods is the prime example. He "moved" to FL in 1996. His off-course deals (rounded) starting in '96: $12M, 19M, 27M, 27M, 38M, 56M, 67M, 77M, 83M, 75M, 87M, 100M, 110M, 101M, 72M, 62M, 77M.

That's a total of $1.09 Billion in endorsements since 1996, and if he had stayed in CA he would have had to fork over $109 million in state taxes. CA has a 10% income tax and FL is 0%. No brainer.

What have we learned about this? That Phil is a dumb ass for staying in CA.
