On Friday, Caledonia police officers were called to a car crash at the intersection of Highway 32 and 5 Mile Road, involving three cars, one of which was missing. A car with three people inside stopped headed eastbound on 5 Mile saw an SUV waiting to turn left from northbound Highway 32, when Rasch came speeding southbound in a Pontiac Grand Am and hit the SUV.

Rasch then left the scene, but later was found nearby by officers, saying his car was “down the road,” but not exactly sure where. The car was eventually found several hundred yards away with severe damage and parked in a ditch after hitting a street sign and mailbox.

Rasch smelled of alcohol and said he drank five beers and two shots before driving, but said he was doing the speed limit when the SUV pulled in front of him causing the accident. However, another couple who had been travelling southbound on 32 said they called police moments before the accident after Rasch passed them doing more than 90 miles per hour.

Rasch failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.16, which is twice more than the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin. He’s currently being held in Racine County Jail on $1,000 bail.
