Misdial Leads To Mom Being Taken To Jail

Her child dialed 911 and things went downhill from there.

A child misdialed 911 from her home and the child’s mother ended up going to jail on a warrant at 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at a residence in the 3300 Four Mile Road.

Vanessa Marie Ortiz, 22, of , had a warrant out of the Racine Police Department for not paying an unreasonable disturbance municipal citation, which she got in Nov. 2010. She was unable to post the $338 bond, and was taken to jail.

An official with the Racine Police Department said an unreasonable disturbance is a ticket they often issue for loud music from a car or a house, but he didn't know specifically what the circumstances around that ticket.
