Protesters 'Greet' Gov. Walker at Ruud Lighting Groundbreaking in Sturtevant

Well over 150 protesters showed up at a ground breaking ceremony where Governor Scott Walker and Sen. Van Wanggaard attended on Tuesday morning. Here's the view from the protests. We'll also have a story about what Walker had to say after the ceremony.

Where is the story on WHY the Governor was here? Nearly 500 new jobs are coming to the Racine area- at Ruud.

They do not want to show any him in a good light. It will be against their war partners. They want him out. Clearly this is their stance. I did not vote for him but with all that he has done so far, the man has really impressed me. I WILL NOT be signing the petition. I hope he has the chance to show me what else he can accomplish.

sorry... I see you have the article. The headline is a bit odd, I must say. Once again, the event is about Ruud's job creation, not the Governor's ability to focus despite the recall efforts.....

Great place to protest - at the announcement of potentially 400 new jobs. :) As for this lady, I'm sorry to hear she hasn't had a raise in 2 years - I don't know many who have. This is a tough economy. It's been harder and harder for us to pay our taxes without my husband getting a raise.... our taxes keep going up and up. Has she tried looking for a job that pays more? Maybe one of these assembly line jobs at Ruud will pay more than she makes now? She didn't say what her benefits are - they're probably much better than she would get at Ruud. But, I'm only guessing.

If you are going to post a video rather than an actual article/transcript, can you at least clean up the audio so we can hear both the reporter and the protester at similar volumes?

So, let me get this straight - the groundbreaking at Ruud was a celebration of local jobs being created and 150 people showed up to protest the Governor and his efforts that were largely responsible for these jobs being located here as opposed to one of the Carolinas, as had been previously contemplated by Ruud.

And yet, these same 150 people claim that it's Walker and the Republicans that are dividing the state???

Hypocrisy truly knows no limits - does it?

BTW – When’s the next scheduled protest at a Special Olympics event?

These clowns have no shame. Protesting great news of job creation, is bad enough, but others of their ilk make it mean and personal by protesting Walker's family home. Is this the new normal? Where is that "civility" we constantly are being lectured from the left?

Sometimes people are so busy trying to be right that they cant see what is good. It is always a pleasure to add long term well paying jobs to the Village.

On top of it all, even if Debra was correct and NOT being a liar here. I know I'm a little tired here tonight but I could of sworn Walker wasn't elected until Nov. 2010 and didn't take office until Jan of 2011. How in the hell would that be a reason to recall Walker or protest Walker when the two years she is crying about the the freaking democrats(house, senate and gov) were in charge? Good lord some of these people and their stupidity knows no bounds .

Way to confirm your source before printing/publishing it Patch!

What happened to credible journalism? This sure does make this entire story look sloppy and indicative of a liberal media bias here on Patch. Very disappointing - I thought Patch had higher standards than to perpetuate LIES!

Collective Bargaining is NOT A RIGHT nor has it EVER been one in this state. Why do some of these continue to regurgitate the same ole tired crap lies? Collective bargaining has NEVER NEVER been a right in Wisconsin. Rights are universal, meaning we would all have them. You see you just can't give "rights" to some and not others in this state, and or country. It's a law,and laws can be repealed, amended and changed. The federal courts went over this already after they ruled in another court case from North Carolina when the public employees tried to claim it as a right. Here is what they said ; “All citizens have the right to associate in groups to advocate their special interests to the government. It is something entirely different to grant any one interest group special status and access to the decision making process.” Meaning the have the right to assemble or organize(in which is not being taken away nor is the right to bargaining for wages) yet no right to grant themselves special privileges.

Chris
Collective bargaining was a legislated right in WI for many decades. This right to collectively bargain for working conditions, wages etc was demolished by Walker and his RepublicanTea Party.

But we will work to get our rights back and that work has started with the Recall of Walker and 4 Republican legislators.

Have a Happy Holiday. I am out to collect more signatures today.
