Recall Walker Rally at Capitol Draws 25,000 to 30,000

Huge crowds show up Saturday as recall organizers announce they've collected more than 100,000 signatures on petitions.

As tens of thousands of people descended upon the state Capitol Saturday, organizers of the effort to remove Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker from office announced they have collected more than 105,000 signatures on recall petitions.

“As of (Friday) night — the fourth day of signature collection, more than 105,000 Wisconsin residents have already signed their name to a petition to recall Scott Walker," said Heather DuBois Bourenane, a volunteer with United Wisconsin, the group spearheading the recall effort. "Across the state, people are talking with their friends, family and neighbors about Walker’s destruction and are doing all they can to end his days as governor."

Organizers need to collect 540,000 signatures by Jan. 17 to force a recall election. United Wisconsin, which is working with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on the recall effort, says it hopes to gather between 600,000 and 700,000 signatures by that deadline.

The news came as a crowd estimated at between 25,000 and 30,000 attended the Madison rally, the largest gathering since the huge Capitol protests in March, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The State Journal said the rally — like those in March — drew thousands of teachers, union members, labor leaders and students. In addition U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, a Madison Democrat who is running for a senate seat, and MSNBC talk show host Ed Schultz were on hand, the newspaper reported.

After the rally, the Republican Party of Wisconsin issued a statement that reiterated its position that a recall is a waste of taxpayers' dollars.

"The bill Wisconsin families will receive for the Democrats' baseless recall effort is without precedent," said state GOP Executive Director Stephan Thompson. "While Governor Walker and the state Legislature instituted bold reforms to cut wasteful spending, the Democrats and their liberal special interests simply want to increase it in their selfish pursuit to regain political power."

Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch has estimated the cost of a statewide recall elections at $7.7 million — a figure based on what it cost to hold nine state Senate recall elections over the summer.

Before the rally got under way, former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold signed a petition to recall the governor before an enthusiastic crowd of about 300 at a Madison theater.

And while many in the crowd were chanting "Run, Russ, Run!", the Democrat told reporters Saturday that he had no intention of running against Walker if a recall is held.

Polls say Feingold, who was defeated by Republican Sen. Ron Johnson in November, would have the best chance of defeating Walker in a recall election.

I am 100% behind the citizens of Wisconsin, and have contributed to the Recall Walker fund.

Soros donates a "dime" and says who he is and what he supports.
Koch brothers give a "dollar" to secret groups and hide behind candidates.

@James...I stated that I questioned Steve and Alan's intelligence, their sense of right and wrong and also their character. You might want to reread MY post, as deciphering my comments in the manner in which you did indicates to me that you lack "objectivity" and no real expertise. You question Jerry's remarks by telling him to recognize he is in a minority in Florida...I think only by 1% and actually, as standing goes, the Crook in the Governor's Mansion in Florida, is hardly burgeoning in positive poll numbers with his constituents. Seems Alan and Steve may be in that same "minority status" when the "jack booted thug", Scott Walker is recalled in the spring.

Carol, I wouldn't invest so much time on James Hoffa and Steve/Allen. They see the writing on the walls for Walker and are putting up a 'tough' last stand. Privately, they're pi_sing down their legs. They know the governors days are numbered.
Every progressive should know with these 'teabagger-fac_ist-win_nuts, not much in the way of logic sticks. And when they get too close to the truth, they 'pivot' to avoid the obvious. What they know and what their good at is how to rant.
Bottom line is they're frustrated that the 'recall' is a done deal and Walker is toast. They're also scared because all the screaming, 'socialist', muslim, 'not a citizen of the US, etc... hasn't derailed Obama and with the current gop contenders, they know it's 4 more years of President Obama.

Here's further proof that you and those like you are totally misinformed. There's a storm a brewing, which will sweep the nation and bring about real change.. The GOP-TP ARE the problem as outlined in this brief sampling of a 4 page letter being sent to the largest wall street corporations from the Top Lobbying Firm in the Nation... They are quaking in their boots and rightfully so. Lobbying Firm Clark, Lytle, Geduldig, Cranford wrote;
Leading Democratic party strategists have begun to openly discuss the benefits of embracing the growing and increasingly organized Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement to prevent Republican gains in Congress and the White House next year. We have seen this process of adopting extreme positions and movements to increase base voter turnout, including in the 2005-2006 immigration debate. This would mean more than just short-term discomfort for Wall Street firms. If vilifying the leading companies of this sector is allowed to become an unchallenged centerpiece of a coordinated Democratic campaign, it has the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye.

It shouldn't be surprising that the Democratic party or even President Obama's re-election team would campaign against Wall Street in this cycle. However the bigger concern should be that Republicans will no longer defend Wall Street companies -- and might start running against them too.

Now What Smart Guy!

I already submitted the figures. But here are some more fact for your to mull over. These com right form Senator Coburn (R) himself. The rich have their entitlements that are swept under the rug and kept from the American people. !8.15 Million was paid to the richest Americans for "Child Care Tax Credits". 74 Million was paid in "Unemployment Benefits to Millionaires" 89 Million was paid to Millionaires for "Preservation of Ranches & Estates" 316 Million was paid in "Farm Subsidies" to the wealthiest farmers in the Nation. 608 Million was paid in "Business Entertainment Deductions" for Millionaires. 9 Billion in Retirement Checks. 21 Billion was written off by Millionaires for "Gambling Loses" and 28 Billion was paid out for "Mortgage Breaks for Mansions, Vacation Homes & Yachts" for millionaires. This is the tip of the iceberg. Doesn't take into consideration the billions
in Tax Payer Loss to give subsidies to the Oil Companies, or the huge corporations who pay ZERO in taxed like GE...

A clarification, for the benefit of a certain ill informed Republican on this thread:

Lynn Scott is a known Medicare fraudster, having led a company that was found guilty of medicare fraud and forced to pay over one billion dollars in fines. Lynn Scott, in depositions about his corporation's crimes, pled the 5th 76 times.

All of Florida consider his candidacy a joke, and the overwhelming majority of citizens took his loss for granted.

Unfortunately, the achilles heel of Democrats is failure to vote when the outcome seems sure. Our voter turnout was abysmal in 2010, and Alex Sink lost to Lynn Scott by less than 1% of the vote. The citizens were shocked, and the horror of our apathy sank in as Lynn Scott set out to transfer wealth and power to his corporate henchmen.

He is overwhelmingly reviled her, with even Republican voters wishing he could be removed. His approval rating is the lowest of any Governor in the nation.

It was a grievous error for Florida Democrats, one that will not be repeated. Lynn Scott will be a one term Governor.

When we have a party in our political system subscribing to the oaths of a man who is not an elected official, then we have a real problem in this country. You can live in your cocoon and pretend for however long as you choose, but Corporations do run this country...*I refer you to ALEC and their penchant for writing laws for our so-called Statesmen in government at all levels and having them introduced and put into law for their advantage. You can be the biggest crook or dummy in this country and get elected today, because "special interests" will provide you with a script. Read Jeff Scarborough's book, "The Family" and you will learn quickly who has been running this country for decades now. You might also want to explain your remark earlier about Scott Walker and your inference that he was standing up to unions and racketeering. You also have that wrong...Walker's first statements on ending union bargaining was to "cut government costs in Wisconsin". I know you've already closed your mind to one side of the argument, but I'll respond anyway. The conflict on interest inherent in public unions funding and campaigning for politicians that green-light their compensation plans at the expense of the other 90% of taxpayers is patently obvious. Add in all the veiled threats about the consequences for even questioning the unions (like maybe your child won't survive the next time disaster strikes if we have a small spending cut) and it becomes extortion. Add in the striking power and rules those bought politicians write mandating that work that may be done more efficiently by the private sector can only be performed by union workers, and it becomes racketeering.

Both sides of aisle look about the same to me in terms of their corruption and greed, and I don't feel any need to spare either criticism. It's a relief to see someone actually try to confront one of them. I guess that makes me an ignorant independent in your eyes. But I'd say it takes a lot more brains and willpower to make your own way in life than to fall in with the biggest group you can find and blindly follow. We'd still be in the Dark Ages if nobody decided to independently explore heretical science and philosophy, offending ruling parties and commoners alike.

James, Independents are merely fence sitters, who never really have an opinion that is based on any real principle. THey hedge their bets on elections with the claim that they are Independents or even more ridiculous...Civil Libertarians. By claiming that they are either, they never have to make a real choice as NO Civil Libertarian or Independent has won an election, at least in my lifetime. Yes, I would have the upper 1% pay 50% taxes on every dollar they take in, I would not allow them to incorporate and play with loopholes to evade their tax liabilities. I would let the Bush tax cuts sunset and I would raise the capital gains tax up to 35%. I would also lift the FICA cap on millionaires. Now if that isn't enough of an answer for you, you are too "thick" in the head to be educated. Corporations who ship our jobs offshore after taking government funding of any sort, even research and development, would pay an additional tax for every job lost by an American to cheap overseas labor. The inequities that exist now in our unfair trade agreements and tax structure in this country are absurd and lean mightly towards the upper 1% and Corporations. Like I said, if you can't figure that much out, there is not much more left for discussion betwen me and thee.

What? I think, by reading your posts, you want "fairness"? Why should ANYONE have to pay 50% in taxes unless EVERYONE pays 50% in taxes? You can incorporate and take advantage of those loopholes too. Start and run a business. You want to set capital gains to 35%? So, when a lower or middle class person sell their house, they get whacked with a 35% tax? That certainly isn't going to help them keep any wealth. Corporations shipping jobs offshore pay more? Like GE, who has their CEO appointed to a government position and then ships all their jobs overseas?

James
You say the top 10% pay 60% of the taxes but did you know that their taxes are at historically low rates. Someone who doesn't work for a living, who cuts coupons and invests in real estate pays only 15%. But don't listen to me James, how about Ronald Regan "We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy. [...] Do you think the millionaire ought to pay more in taxes than the bus driver or less?

@Martin -

Hoffa is against ALL loop-holes. Taxes should be paid by everyone from the utterly destitute to the mega wealthy. But Hoffa also believes that no one's combined tax burden should ever exceed the maximum threshold of 40% of one's wealth/income - EVER!!!

Hoffa's tax mantra: Everyone gets to play, so everyone should have to pay!

BTW - Don't fall for the whole Warren Buffet mis-direction tactic either. Cap gains tax vs. income tax. Not to mention that Buffet purposefully structures his earnings to minimize his overall tax burden and is currently disputing billions in back due and owing taxes with the IRS.

Having clarified that issue, Hoffa does believe that cap gains taxes should be higher than individual personal income tax rates, but should be taxed at no more than 15%, whether such gains are realized short or long term.

Hoffa's proposed federal tax code (subject to revision):

Federal Sales Tax (applicable to ALL transactions): 1.5%

Federal Income Tax (applicable to all gross income and eliminates income adjustment - deductions, exemptions, itemized write-offs, loop holes, eit credits, etc., except in limited circumstances as is necessary to facilitate fairness):

$0 - $125,000 - 8%
$125k - $250k - 12.5%
$250k - $750k - 17%
$750k+ - 21.5%

Federal Cap Gains Tax (short & long term, bracket neutral): 15%

Federal Corp Profit Tax Non-Manufacturing (offset only by legitimate losses for up to 3 years carried forward): 18%

Federal Corp Profit Tax Manufacturing (offset only by legitimate losses for up to 3 years carried forward): 15%

All other federal taxes, with the exception of the federal excise taxes on petro fuels, alcohol, and tobacco products and trade tariffs/taxes with unfair trading nations, will be eliminated.

I have supported the recall of Republican Sentators in Wisconsin with money in the past and I still do with this Walker recall. I will also support any good candidate that runs against Rick Scott. I supported the effort to stop union busting my Kaisch in Indiana. Wherever freedom to assemble or to associate is threatened by any ruling group, I will be there with my money and time. So my contibution one ups your's and goes with Jerry's. Maybe you can get Jimmy Hoffa to offset it for Scott.

In fact if it means you have to cut back on a couple of cans of Ensure each week to be able to do so, I encourage that. Particularly for the Walker Recall campaign. Donate a lot, donate often.

The state released the latest property tax information for Wisconsin homeowners and for the first time in years it showed the school tax levy is actually going down. All told the state’s total school tax levy went down by nearly $50 million this year.

In fact, 269 school districts across the state have a property tax levy the same or lower than last year’s.To put that property tax decline in perspective, over the last five years, the average tax levy has gone UP by $181 million each year. That means reforms not only curbed the growth of property taxes by over $180 million, but they will actually put more money in the hands of taxpayers.

They want to be true Oligarchs and discourage any competition by monopolyzing the industries that they are in. That is why they chose Walker to pimp Wisconsin for them. They want to take over running several public utilities without so much as a fair bidding process to do so. Then they can gouge you for your public services. Billions will never be enough for them...they are now sucked into the power and the illusion that they "rule the world" and all who inhabit it. They want to buy universities and put who they want to parrot their message of those who have the gold rule....they have done this in Florida. They want to peddle the University of Chicago, Milton Friedman laizze faire Capitalism tripe, to business students which is really just plain old Predatory Capitalism resurrected on steroids since the 1990s. They are an evil worth fighting to preseve the democracy in this country.

Oh yes, even though there are people like you out there sabotaging the effort, but futilely I might add. They have crooks from Walkers goon squad, people like you Hoffa, who are applying for official ballots to collect signatures just to throw the ballots away and not turn them in to be counted.. Because you see, that's the only way the GOP-TP can gain in any sort of election or contest is to cheat, lie and fear monger.. Sorry to tell you though, the effort is already so successful, they can throw away all the ballot's they chose and it won't make a difference. The effort as collect over 150,00 signatures in the first 24 hours. That about 20% of the needed amount. SO I say again, Scott Walker will be recalled and there isn't a thing you or he or anybody else can do about it. Bet you're proud of the way your side cheats too huh? Don't go away mad now Hoffa... I don't understand your obsession over me contributing to the Scott Walker recall fund.

My act is a political one, partially fueled by the frustration of having no such option here in a State where the sitting Governor would actually be voted out by the very people who voted him in!

I am a union proponent who watched Wisconsin's fabulous demonstrations last year, and am now watching as the Koch-Puppet is run out of town on a rail.

As for the "Ensure" comment, I assure you that I am economically fortunate, and consider myself fortunate to have the ability to occasionally support out of state causes that I believe in. I realize that my individual contribution is but a drop in the proverbial bucket, but it is enormously gratifying to me when a particular candidate is elected or defeated, as the case may be, and that my money may have fed some volunteers for a few weeks, or covered the cost of some office space, or whatever.

I opposed (with money) Sharron Angle, Meg Whitman, Christine O'Donnell, and boo-hoo, Nicky Haley (that was my flushed money, but I'll support her opponent next time she's up.)

I realize that all the millionaires can't pay for it all, but their taxes are low, Corporations are making huge profits, and somehow the workers in this country are not getting a head. There is a huge concern on my part at least for the young people who are unemployed and burdened with inordinate college debt. I do not see upward mobility for many in the future and I believe we all owe a better legacy to the future of this country and to those who come after us. There were better choices available that are more American and more pro-union and you should’ve known better!

For comparison purposes, Hoffa puts all of his money where his mouth is because he’s a very conscious consumer –

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Traditional domestic brand and assembled with pride in Detroit, MI!

Oscar, so much truth and wisdom in your post. I keep hoping that one day I will meet someone from the Right Wing persuasion that can admit that maybe everything they do isn't always the only way to do something. I am appalled by the current crop of Repubs because there is not one of them that is willing to really work on this country's problems. Instead, they want to control a woman's womb, be in everyone's bedroom, spout their religious dogma, and the only solution to any problem is to cut taxes and give the wealthy a whole host of tax breaks. The Civil Libertarians crack me up with their Utopia that will never happen, as mankind and his behavior is adaptable to doing "the right thing" by not cheating your neighbor or bullying your way to get your way. Laizze faire would NEVER work...ever! i am sick of the party Republican leadership that now believes it okay to blame this downturn and all the consequences that we are now enduring on working people and those who have lost their jobs due to no fault of their own. I am tired of the bashing of firemen, police, teachers, nurses and government workers...it is an unjustifiable attack without a wit of credence. No, my plan has not been fully vetted, but if the analysis of Cain's 9-9-9 plan indicates that it either maintains current level revenues or even decreases them by close to $1T, depending upon whose numbers you're following, then certainly my plan would actually increase federal revenues by over $1T by the very nature of its structure.

"There is a huge concern on my part at least for the young people who are unemployed and burdened with inordinate college debt."

I take issue with this statement because I successfully and fairly recently put myself through both college (double major with two degrees - BBA and BS) and law school (JD and LLM) without sustaining any debt by working my butt off and saving up - up to three jobs both full and part time for near minimum wages. And by living frugally, I even managed to save up enough money for a down payment on a house when I was finally done with school!

So I know for a fact that this can still be done - it's just a matter of wanting to do it the fiscally responsible way, such as I did, or borrow a bunch of money to do it. And I'm not going to feel sorry for those people who took the lazy way out and borrowed the money that they're now having trouble paying back. Sorry, but that was their choice and now they must live with the responsibility that they chose to accept, otherwise it’s not very fair to the people like me who saved up, worked hard, and paid our own way through, would it be?

James, lowering taxes may or maynot benefit Wisconsin. It is too early to call the jury on that deliberation. First of all, what districts were affected? What unintended consequences that education Wisconsin children will face in the future?? How much was cut from districts that were underfunded??? How many teachers did you remove from the classroom to reach the dollar amount indicated??? What effect does that have on class size and the overall education of any child??? Wisconsin has always ranked high in graduation rates and overall test scores? Will any of these statistics be impacted? Only time will tell and I hope you people know what you are doing as you can start to build your own underclass who cannot be productive citizens in Wisconsin's future.

As for putting oneself through school...one needs a job and a car to get hired. I also worked three jobs at one time, as a single Mom of two, to put myself through college and Grad school....whoopee for me! It also did not cost then what it costs now. So the time/place/individual circumstances do count. It was a different time and place unless you just got out of college this year. I don't impose my values on anyone else nor do I expect them to accomplish their goals in the manner in which I have accomplished mine. Your achievements while admirable are detracted from because of your insensitive attitude to the realities of the economy today. Hoffa, the cost of college at State schools has increased by 77% in the last ten years. That is unreasonable. The minimum wage in this country is well below other industrialized countries...the Danes are at $18 an hour, at 50% taxes they still make more than Americans. They provide an education for all their people for free and healthcare from cradle to grave. They believe that a society's goodness is measured by how it treats it's youngest, oldest,and frailest citizens, They don't have homeless folks and the Danes rank their standard of living and way of life as the best in the world. We could learn much from them in their socialistic/capitalist society. Walker wants to make Wisconsin a "right to work" state and believe me, after watching that in Texas for 18 years, it is strictly a race to the bottom. You will draw the lowest skilled workers and the worst pay for work. Your work force will be undereducated. Texas is already experiencing this in San Antonio, where I lived for the last two decades. Your property taxes may go down, but I will bet you that your income taxes or some other fee or another will go up and offset that loss. When your schools start to lose standing then you will be in the drink. Be careful what you wish for....

Denmark is also very small - both in population and total land mass. It's an apples and oranges comparison.

Not to mention that Denmark is currently a mess - they currently hold the highest mortgage debt per capita in the industrialized world and have an ever increasing public debt situation that they are trying to contain.

Funny that you mention right-to-work together with Denmark, because it's an absolute right to hire and absolute right to fire nation, all without cause. Would you also want us adopting this policy over here in the states and especially in Wisconsin? But wouldn’t that contradict your pro-union stance? What’s the deal here Carol, you’re not being very consistent.

Maybe you should take some time and try researching beyond the liberal blog opinion pieces, hey?

@AWD-Very well said!!! Straight to the point!!! Sitting here reading all of these posts I am just amazed at how ignorant some people truely are. Its about time Me as a taxpayer finally has a voice!! I am sorry that all of you left wing, public secotr union supporting individuals have finally been exposed!! This whole recall Walker is a complete waste of time not to mention a HUGE waste of money. But it seems the left enjoys wasting money especially when its not their money.
It just amazes me, during the last election the people spoke, the left unable to come to terms with that has to start all this crazy drama and recall proceedings. Again the people will once again speak and when Walker remains in office I am curious to see what their next move will be.

@Sharp-So what your saying Walker has something to do with the cost of an education? Personally I feel the high cost of a college education is directly related to the far left sitting professors and those involved with providing the education. These univerities have individuals making high 6 figure incomes with lavish benefits not to mention awesome retirement packages. So yes its time that public sector workers pay their fair share period!! Gov Walker choose not to include police and fire as they are truely individuals that deserve a good wage. Not that teachers are not entitled to make a decent living but they should also be evaluated on performance not senoirity!!!

My husband was one of those malcontents and he walked over there from our house, just blocks away, after finishing his day's work as a physician. It's not just "those people" on the North Avenue bridge (which was chosen, btw, because it is an example of the crumbling infrastructure that the GOP is refusing to fund - no, more important to spend time declaring pizza as a vegetable). Walker's own neighbors allowed their yards to be used for the recall. That says more about him as a neighbor than it does about him as a governor, IMO. And it will make for one awkward block party when he has to come back home.

I agree on the block party, but even before he comes home it's going to be awkward for you, Christine. Like most lefties you assume that eventually everyone is going to come around to seeing things your way. You've got more than just the Walker family itself to contend with.

As for the collective sit-down on the bridge, most folks (those who aren't obsessed with being victims, those who go through their daily lives and don't blame everybody else for their troubles, those who don't fancy themselves knowledgable about all things political because they visit a few websites and watch MSNBC) just see that for what it was. A bunch of spoiled, self-absorbed whiney babies inconveniencing those around them at the expense of the taxpayer. The "deeper meaning" of the location is lost on them. You need to get out in the real world a bit more often.

I'm glad you clarified the validity of your claim of being able to assess intelligence as it relates to seeing what you want to see, Christine. Quid pro quo comparisons are helpful in that regard.

And I'm not a big fan of name calling, but sometimes that's the only way to get the correct characterization of individuals out there. I think if a person chooses to participate in activities that society normally associates with those most people grow out of in their preteens, then it shouldn't surprise anyone when that person is identified as not having yet done so.

My mentality is just fine, thank you. As is my way of thinking. I don't feel entitled. I've worked very hard for what I have, and so has my husband. I generally am opposed to recalls, especially if they are single-issue recalls. I remember seeing recall petitions being circulated in the 90s for Feingold and Kohl because of an abortion vote. Those recall efforts failed because they were single-issue recalls.

I do not believe that this is a single-issue matter, which is why I support the recall. I was not on 68th Street the other night because I was working during that time. But I fully supported the peaceful rally that took place. Please don't feel sorry for my mentality - I give absolutely no thought to yours.

What is so absurd about this recall is that even if the government union thugs (yes that includes teachers, nurses, social workers, fireman, policeman, prison guards, secretaries, etc., etc., etc.) win the recall AND recall a couple of more senators, NOTHING is going to change. The assembly is still in firm Republican hands. Act 10 is here to stay and there isn't a darn thing the thugs can do about it. All of this is an exercise in futility, which is something that the liberals seem to be very good at. 2. Obama is spending more public money and putting us even deeper into debt than any other President in the history of our nation - $15T+, that's $133,559 per taxpayer. How are you going to pay your share Rich?

3. Obama allows GE to get away with paying ZERO federal income taxes. Guess who the CEO of GE is? His right hand job czar Jeffrey Immelt, who instead of creating jobs here in America is shipping GE's medtech/x-ray and aerospace divisions to China!

4. Obama laughing admitted that he wasted $1T of our money in stimulus I by saying that "shovel ready was not as shovel ready as we expected." And he thought that this was funny? Let's see Obama cover that $1T out of his own pocket if it's such a laughing matter!

5. I'm not going to counter this one, as it is a CHRISTMAS tree! Good for Walker!!! And Obamacare = socialism!

6. Where are the tens of millions of jobs that Obama promised us? Unemployment in the US has soared under his tenure. And how much money did all of those crony jobs at Solyndra and the like costs us?

Calling a pine tree a Christmas tree does not go against separation of Church and State. What that amendment actually means is the government can't call a certain religion, "the official religion" by enacting a law stating that. It does not mean the Governor or the President, or any politician for that matter, cannot call it a Christmas tree.

Speaking of the terrible recall process, here's what an expert on the matter has to say:

“You… know the folks that were angry about this started a recall and they were told they needed to collect 73,000 signatures in sixty days. Well, not hundreds, not thousands, but tens of thousands of ordinary people did an extraordinary thing. They stood up and took their government back. In less than thirty days they collected more than 150,000 signatures. It was at that moment I realized the real emotion on display in my county wasn’t just about anger. You see, if it had been about anger, it would have been about people checking out and moving out or giving up. But instead what happened was really amazing. You saw people standing up shoulder to shoulder, neighbor to neighbor and saying we want our government back. And in doing so the real emotion on display was about hope. Today I see a lot of the same emotions on display here in Wisconsin and all across our great country. Obviously, there are a lot of reasons to be angry.”

Scott Walker, 2010, regarding the 2002 Ament recall.
Wonder how much that recall cost.

Hey, Bob McBride! Thanks for thinking of me. I hadn't even commented yet on this thread and I find myself mentioned! As you stated, I posted elsewhere Walker's words of support for the concept of recalls, spoken when a recall was potentially for his benefit. Whether that recall went through, who it was against, or what color tie he was wearing when he said it, don't change what he said, or change the relevance of his comments to what is happening now. In the case of this recall against Walker, its obvious that there's much more behind it than sour grapes Bob, but I understand you're very invested in that point of view. It seems like you hurl a lot more insults than you used to in your comments! Do you think that helps? Anyway, thanks also, for urging people to donate in support of the recalls, even if you were attempting sarcasm, or humor maybe? Not sure. Anyway, I can help!....at this link people can donate to support the recall, and also download a petition to sign and mail in: http://www.unitedwisconsin.com/

Dave, you have a right to expect your taxes to be spent properly but bashing government and public employees is not the solution. I worked in the private sector for years, retired from AT&T in 2000....they are an enterprise business now. I also worked for years in the public sector for the county, state and Feds. What private sector pays in benfits and salaries is comparable to the public sector and actually, I always made more than my public sector colleagues in the telecom industry. I see your argument as a moot point...since what the private sector pays it's employees is passed on to you as a consumer and that too, impacts "your bottom line". Also, bashing public sector workers is just a distraction to keep the heat off the real culprits who caused the economic meltdown in 2008....the PRIVATE sector banks. You have bought into a sham if you think the public sector is the cause of all of our ills. @Hudson Resident -

I don't get it either. First off, do these people have an obsession with the Troll movies from the '80's or something? Honestly, why a 'troll' - it doesn't make much sense! Second, I only wish I was being paid by someone to comment - I'd be much more well off! And if being on the right makes us ‘trolls,’ then what does being on the left make them exactly? Bunch of classless individuals if you ask me! I’m sure AWD could say it even better ;-)

I guess when you’re on the left, it's easier to blame baseless conspiracy theories as opposed to taking responsibility for yourself. Sad state of affairs in America when half of the country thinks that way! I hope we start waking up and waking up fast otherwise it will start to get ugly here like in already has in Europe!

@Linda -

Thanks for clearing that up - for a minute I thought all the lefties here were obsessed with the Troll movies of the '80's!

Still not sure why they'd be calling us trolls though - the article supposedly contains the facts and they speak for themselves, right? What's more to say? According to the criteria you've provided, there would be no reason for anyone to comment further. So anyone commenting, from the right, left or in-between, would be considered a troll, correct?

As I expected all along - just a bunch of unintelligent and classless name callers!

Thanks for the help Linda!

Wouldn’t you do anything to protect your or your family’s lives if they were being threatened by an angry mob of people? I guess you just don’t care about your life or the lives of your family very much john. We on the right, however, appreciate a man who’s passionate about life and the lives of his family. The recall efforts are distractions from the fact that Obama's agenda has been
disastrous for jobs and the economy. I don't know all of the reforms Walker has
promoted, but in this economy I would certainly give them time to succeed. If
they fail and government union members feel unduly harmed, then elect someone
else in a year. The tantrums the unions are promoting in the streets are childish.
The question to be asking is whether the economy will do better under Walker or
national union leaders that have co-opted the dialogue.

This obsession about the Koch Bros has gotten ridiculous. They are not the voice
of the Republican party nor do they even compare to the financial support and
influence of Soros and the unions. The delusion that the Republicans are the party
of the 1% is nonsense. Obama has taken more from Wall St and Silicon Valley
than anyone in history. I really thought by now that even the graduates of public
schools would have noticed the gaps between Obama's words and actions
and the extreme failure of his agenda, but apparently not by the posts I've read
here. One question, has borrowing and spending by Obama helped jobs and
the economy or has it merely increased the national debt by $5 trillion?

This is an open letter to all of you who are embroiled in this seemingly perpetual debate with James R Hoffa:
I posses a high level of political/psychological acuity in respects to how and why people vote the way they do and what possible motivations they may have. I've been observing Mr. Hoffa from afar (Texas) and in reading his comments I've yet to come across a more keenly prepared and thorough voter than Mr Hoffa. He is adept in his skills for debate and he is well researched. What I would like to offer you is a profile of the typical republican voter and why debating individuals like Mr. Hoffa very rarely bears fruit.
We all have pathologies of one kind or another, but it is to what extent and where these pathologies are present in our behavior that defines whether or not they become an issue that needs to be addressed. Mr. Hoffa has demonstrated to me that he is possibly an Authoritarian who demonstrates a very high level of denial especially when it comes to inconvenient truths.

In continuum…
Rightwing authoritarianism is defined as the convergence of three attitudinal clusters:

-Authoritarian submission: A high degree of submission to the authorities who are perceived to be established and legitimate in the society in which one lives.

-Authoritarian aggression: A general aggressiveness, directed against various persons, that is perceived to be sanctioned by established authorities.

-Conventionalism: A high degree of adherence to the social conventions that are perceived to be endorsed by society and its established authorities.

Political Tendencies

-Right wing authoritarian conservatives are more likely to:

Weaken constitutional guarantees of liberty, such as the Bill of Rights.
Accept unfair and illegal abuses of power by government authorities.
Trust leaders (such as Richard Nixon) who are untrustworthy.
Sometimes join left-wing movements, where their hostility distinguishes them.
But much more typically endorse right-wing political parties.
Be conservative/Reform party (Canada) or Republican Party (United States) lawmakers who
have a conservative economic philosophy;
believe in social dominance;
are ethnocentric;
are highly nationalistic;
oppose abortion;
support capital punishment;
oppose gun-control legislation;
say they value freedom but actually want to undermine the Bill of Rights;
do not value equality very highly and oppose measures to increase it;
are not likely to rise in the Democratic party, but do so among Republicans

These tendencies can easily be identified throughout the history of conservative ideology and dogma:

Hostility & Fear Toward Outgroups
Right wing authoritarian conservatives are more likely to:

* Weaken constitutional guarantees of liberty, such as the Bill of Rights.
* Punish severely `common' criminals in a role-playing situation.
* Admit they get personal pleasure from punishing such people.
* But go easy on authorities who commit crimes and people who attack minorities.
* Be prejudiced against many racial, ethnic, nationalistic, and linguistic minorities.
* Be hostile toward homosexuals.
* Support `gay-bashing.'
* Be hostile toward feminists.
* Volunteer to help the government persecute almost anyone.
* Be mean-spirited toward those who have made mistakes and suffered.
* Be fearful of a dangerous world.

Not-So-Healthy Ingroup Cohesion
Right wing authoritarian conservatives are more likely to:

* Strongly believe in group cohesiveness and `loyalty.'
* Insist on traditional sex roles.
* Use religion to erase guilt over their acts and to maintain their self-righteousness.
* Be `fundamentalists' and the most prejudiced members of whatever religion they belong to.
* Accept unfair and illegal abuses of power by government authorities.
* Trust leaders (such as Richard Nixon, Bush, Cheney, The Koch Bros, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, ad infinituum…..) who are untrustworthy.

Here is another telling trait amongst republicans:The avoidance of uncertainty, for example, as well as the striving for certainty, are particularly tied to one key dimension of conservative thought - the resistance to change or hanging onto the status quo, they said.

The terror management feature of conservatism can be seen in post-Sept. 11 America, where many people appear to shun and even punish outsiders and those who threaten the status of cherished world views, they wrote.

Concerns with fear and threat, likewise, can be linked to a second key dimension of conservatism - an endorsement of inequality, a view reflected in the conservative, segregationist politics of the late Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-South S.C.).

Disparate conservatives share a resistance to change and acceptance of inequality. Hitler, Mussolini, and former President Ronald Reagan were individuals, but all were right-wing conservatives because they preached a return to an idealized past and condoned inequality in some form. Talk host Rush Limbaugh can be described the same way.

Conservatism: clinical tendencies
A study funded by the US Government's National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health has concluded that conservatism can be explained psychologically as: a set of neuroses rooted in "fear and aggression, dogmatism and the intolerance of ambiguity". (see report)
----------
A study by NYU and UCLA published in the Journal Nature Neuroscience shows liberals have a greater cognitive ability to problem solve and cope with changing conditions than conservatives who are more "persistent and structured" and are more reliant on "habitual responses." From the study:
"Liberalism was associated with stronger conflict-related anterior cingulate activity, suggesting greater neurocognitive sensitivity to cues for altering a habitual response pattern."
Essentially, conservatives tend to rely on ‘persistence’ in a ‘habitual response pattern,’ despite signals that this response pattern should change... (i.e. "stay the course")
---------

Study in Current Biology:
Liberals have more gray matter in a part of the brain associated with understanding complexity - the anterior cingulate cortex, while the conservative brain is bigger in the section related to processing fear - the right amygdala.

then they say they are tough on crime! but they don't want to back truth in sentincing because it costs too much! and last but not least, they refuse to admit that people who work in the public sector pay taxes and spend on goods and services that boost the economy!

The third paragraph below shows how Walker and the other Repub Govs. are finishing up the plan that GWB and Grover Norquist hatched when GWB took office...

Briefly, here was the plan. It just needed some Repubs to get in positions of power at the state level. We are now at the third step. When Bush took office, President Clinton left a surplus of 8 trillion dollars. There were also trillions more in state public pension funds. Grover Norquist, architect of Bush's economic policy, had his eye on all of this money.

George Bush followed to the letter the first two planks of Norquist's three-step formula for transforming government. First,he radically cut taxes, especially to the rich, thus creating huge deficits. Secondly, he used these deficits as an excuse to slash non-defense spending.

The third step is finally happening. State by state, Norquist told the Nation's Robert Dreyfus, and at the federal level, they would dismantle and privatize public pension funds and be "liberating" the trillions of dollars held in trust for retirees. Referring to those who believe in public services such as public pension funds, Norquist stated, "We want to take that power and destroy it."

Ah yes, no big story about this blatant fraud anywhere! Nor was there any coverage of the ‘Cemetery Petition Drive’ to collect the names of the dead from tombstones to use on the recall petitions.

But we sure did hear plenty about the fake petition gatherers who weren't going to turn in their collected signatures to the GAB. But there's no liberal media bias - honest!

Let them waste their time and cigs collecting unusable signatures - the joke will ultimately be on them!

And TMJ's Charles Bensen was there, but he somehow conveniently didn't get video of cigarettes for children's signatures on film! So now the question is: Will Caledonia Patch report on this? Here's another link with blown up photos. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2809730/posts

Walker & Co. wasted Wisconsin's rare federal grant of $900 MILLION he personally refused for High Speed Rail from Milwaukee to Minnesota via Madison.

The economic boom would have presented endless opportunities for Gov. Weasel to promote himself. The idiot killed the train solely to deny union construction workers good jobs for years.

@Al Breeck -

The federal government is broke and currently running at record deficits - where would the $900M have come from exactly? Oh yeah, that's right - China!

Maybe you're OK with financially enslaving your children to the Chinese just so you can have a choo-choo today, but I for one am glad that Walker stood on his principles here! We need more like Walker that are willing to put their foot down and say no to Chinese money and financially enslaving future generations just to satisfy our own greed and ineptitude today!

And if you still think that the train would have been a great idea at this moment in time, then please borrow the money only under your children’s names, but leave mine out of it and they’ll promise never to ride your train. Deal?

Yeah, Al, that's why he killed it. To deny union construction workers good jobs. Never mind that there was absolutely no demand for it. Never mind that what it actually was, was a very expensive carrot dangled in front of Talgo (remember Doyle's trips to Spain?) in the form of a publicly funded test track in exchange for a production facility. Total long term jobs gained - approximately 1000. And that $900MM was just for starters. Add in construction costs beyond the $900MM, maintenance, subsidies to cover the inability of ridership to support it and you've created a boondoggle that would end up costing residents of the state untold millions ad infinitum.

Just the other day, another lefty somewhere on here was bitching about a $8 million dollars used to help Ruud Lighting create 400 jobs. That you guys have a problem with - because it happened while Republicans were in control.

So who's getting more bang for the buck, Al? The Dems and Doyle, with the money pit HSR project (that actually was cancelled by Doyle, btw. If he felt that strongly about it he could have pushed it through), or whomever put the deal together to keep Ruud from moving jobs to NC?

You know, if you folks could ever put together an argument that couldn't be picked apart by a middle-schooler, you'd actually be dangerous.

Al - That was such a waste of money and all it would have done is moved your liberal protesters back and forth to Madison. But I suppose you guys are tired of paying for all the buses. I'm sure if you dig deep enough you can find an Obama grant that will help pay for your transportation!

If we have problems, maybe we add staff. John - I don't think winter will be a problem because there are lots of private people out there who would love extra plowing time if the Union guys don't show up. Regarding my husband's job. Let me just say that he deals with people who call in sick constantly. These kind of people feel that because their union contract gives them 10, 12, 13 days a year for sick time... They are going to use 10, 12, 13 days a year! It doesn't matter to them if these days are supposed to be for "Sick" days! This is one of the many reasons that collective bargaining needs to be stopped. Employees are paid to "Work" - If they are doing a poor job or not showing up to work they should be fired. Of course serious medical issues should be a case by case decision, because no one wants to fire someone who has a serious medical issue...

John - I actually understand where you are coming from, but your battle should be with your town and what I'm guessing is mismanagement from the upper level positions. Take a look at the top and ask yourself if they really need those top heavy positions? Our school district has approximately 21,000.00 students and we only have (1) painter for the whole district! Yet we have enough money to pay about 17 administrative people over $100,000.00 a year? Keep in mind, we have a failing school district with high poverty which means less people paying taxes. We are told time and again that the school district has no money, but they just spent millions so they could move their administration office! This is the kind of wasteful spending that has to stop. All this recall business is doing nothing except driving a wedge between the people in our state. And worse yet is the millions of dollars that could have been spent improving Wisconsin. And no, my husband wasn't appointed by the governor. He tested and was hired and he has spent 20 plus years working his but off and climbing the ladder.

The object of what are called Progressives, is to work toward a society that works for all and addresses the difficulties of all. We do not, then, all “get our way” exactly. In that, liberalism is a unifying approach that is inclusive, it will seem to not favor any one conservative aspect automatically over another, nor necessarily new ideas. Although liberalism as practiced by many a liberal, will seem to jump to new ideas without thorough questioning or reviewing the preexisting conceptual relationships. Freedom and Liberty and Justice are all essentially children of Liberalism. For some, this is seriously problematic to making exploitation and opportunistic endeavours seem right."

@john -

Are you really that upset with me for doing my own roofing repairs instead of hiring a unionized contractor to do the project for me?

Or for recently raising my hip-roofed barn so that I could re-pour the footings that were crumbling, with only the help of family and friends instead of calling upon my fellow Teamsters?

You're right, I don't know if I could have kept up with all the union mandated breaks and down time because I actually like to try and get those kinds of projects done on a budget and schedule.

Shame on me!

@john -

Who ever said I was a farmer? No government subsidies for me, thank you very much! Just because I have a barn doesn't mean I'm a farmer - I use it as a workshop, where I restore collector cars, and as storage space for my very modest auto collection.

I lease the remaining 240 acres, which is separately partitioned from the 2.6 acres my homestead sits on, to a farmer that has planted the field for the last 3 years (since I bought the property). This year, he did soy beans.

And yes, the barn is hip-roofed - it was originally erected in 1889. It was in decay when I purchased the property. Several hydraulic jacks, and a lot of personal sweat equity was spent giving it some new life!

BTW – I did use Teamster affiliated concrete mixer trucks when re-doing the footings, but actually over-saw the pour myself. The Teamsters merely provided me with the concrete.

Not in the least impressed with the signature count. To be successful they need at least half of the necessary signatures because those are the enthusiastic signers. Just anxious to see how many lies like last weeks so called Republican petition collector hoax. Walker stays, dems lose again an TAXPAYERS are the big winners.

Not at this rate you won't. Again John, why are you recalling Walker? Because he kept taxes in line, paid off our debt, saved thousands of public workers jobs, created 1200 new teachers positions, balanced the budget? Are is it because you can't fathom contributing to your own pension or healthcare like we, the 99%? Really John, are you that self serving that you expect people like me to fund your gravy train? Well, we're done!!! Your unions have robbed us blind for a several decades because of your so called collective bargaining. And so what are you going to do if you are successful? Lay-off thousands of your so-called union brothers? Pathetic, if you ask me. Solidarity in Wisconsin translates to solo-darity! It's all about me, to hell with education and my union brother.

but managers are not taking the time to do those evaluations! if they did, i would be making more not less! you don't know me, don't lump me in with the gravy train crap!

John- No disrespect, but I am extremely active with public workers. I sat on a school board for three years, on our village's park commission (one year as chairman) and have been the village's weed commissioner for the past six years. I ran for the village board and continue to be very active in budget decisions with our village. I negotiated 6 public union contracts twice, so I do have more than a basic understanding of "where the money goes" and know first hand that none of those unions gave anything towards pensions and a meager $65 family contribution to health care for a Cadillac plan with no deductibles for a four year contract that contained 4.5% each year for the entire contract. You would be suprised that 80 - 85% of school and municipality revenue goes directly to wages and benefits. When the money runs dry, your lavish benefits were taking money out of classrooms, salt for the streets, less police and fire equipment and personnel, and yes, your highway depts 's lost personnel and equipment. Thousands are laid off right now and the economy is in the tank (look at the mass lay-offs of public workers in Illinois) and all the Governor was asking for is you to contribute (like the rest of the world) to your pension and healthcare; all without cutting your wages or your availablity to great healthcare. You unions sold you out on the healthcare if they changed the plan to save you a buck.

Thanks - it was a challenge, but one that I was able to handle with the help of my friends and family just fine. When restoring the barn, I decided to go with a metal roof - hopefully the last roof I'll ever have to put on it!

Within the next 5 years, I also plan on putting a metal roof on the house. I will also be doing all the labor on that project myself!

Hope your father's roofing project went well for him :-)

You got me - it's technically a "gambrel roof" and not a true "hip roof." However, many people confuse the two designs and 'hip-roofed' is often seen being used to refer to an actual 'gambrel roofed' structure – just google the term ‘hip roof barn’ and see what images come up.

I was going with the popular slang/vernacular as opposed to the technical description. Sorry, I stand corrected.

I put a picture up on my profile so you can see my barn, if you so desire (pre-siding).

Hoffa - An 1889 barn - Very cool! And 240 acres is a good chunk of dirt! My parents always have had a farm, but just like you they leased out the land for other people to farm. Except for hay - We always bailed our own hay! Long hot summers bailing hay will teach "Most" people how to work hard! Here's a thought... Maybe next summer Obama could give out some grant money and pay some of the occupies to work bailing hay for farmers. :) They can even bring their tents! And btw... A metal roof is the way to go. My dad did the same thing on his barn and everything went well - Except he lost one of his hear aides! He found it a week later sitting on one of the metal bands that goes around the silo - And it still worked!

Even though my family never farmed, they were UAW auto-workers for AMC and then Chrysler in Kenosha, we still lived out in the country. So, my first real jobs ever since I started riding a bicycle down the highway were working as farm hands for the local farmers that lived around us. I did everything from tending dairy cattle to stacking straw up in the hay loft and everything else in between. Definitely gives you some strong work ethics and proves that getting your hands a little dirty never hurt anyone!

Glad to hear that everything worked out well for your father and that he can still hear well too :-)

My little (600 souls) village ain't perfect but we do talk to each other. Upside: every body knows everybody's busines. Downside: everybody knows everybody's business. On most things if there are 3 of us together then you can count on hearing 6 different opinions. As you might be able to tell mine are extreme and weakly held. I suspicion that a lot of what is posted here falls in that category. Shame that instead of talking with each other anymore we and our political reps just posture and point fingers.

Thanks! And like I tried telling you before, for me it was never about demonizing or vilifying anyone. If you would have just taken me at my word, we probably could have dispensed with a good deal of the back and forth – but it was a little fun, wasn’t it ;-)

It’s just simple economic reality. I don't exactly agree with everything the Republicans do all the time either. I'm an independent that tends to vote for mostly third party and independent candidates - at least when they're available to vote for anyway. I've supported Perot, Nader, and even used to send money to the Northern Irish Sinn Fein before 9/11 made that difficult to do.

The only reason I support Walker is because it would appear that he’s trying to take some fiscal responsibility for the taxpayer and there’s currently no better option available. And public sector unions, well, you know how I feel about that – they’re not really necessary. The federal government proves that in the way it’s mostly non-union and treats its employees pretty fairly, right? Remember, you still get to vote for the politicians that set your pay, just like everyone else. And if you wanted to, you could organize into a lobbying group, as the real Hoffa suggested public employees do in his book, as opposed to trying to use the traditional labor union model. I fully support that.

Take it easy, and don’t get a sore butt form sittin in your plow for too long!

John - Hey, if we can talk barns, I think I can swing you to the right yet. :) My dad is a great conservative, but he hasn't always been a great farmer - He lost a steer one time that he had just bought at an auction. Brought it home and the critter ran off into the corn field! He tried to find it for weeks and never did! He also fell though the hay shoot one time and landed at my mom's feet! Not the best farmer, but a hard worker, a great conservative and a great heavy equipment operator! In 1985 he paid $402.00 in Union Dues a year. He retired in the late 1990s and I'm sure his dues were much more. My dad has always said, "That unions can be a good thing unless they get too big and powerful". Right now, he thinks they are too powerful! He is right and I think you will agree that there are too many top heavy big wigs in the Unions making way too much money. That needs to be nipped so the money can go back to the workers or maybe be used to hire more plow drivers like yourself. The only way to do this, is to use the tools that Governor Walker is trying to give our state! Are you feeling the vibe yet? :) Anyway, all I'm saying is that before people jump too far into the recall movement they should take a step back and ask, "What has my union really done for me, except to take Union Dues?"

@Stormy -

Fundamental difference between private sector and public sector unions. Not even the real Hoffa or FDR believed in or supported public sector unionization because of the inherent conflict of interest they contain.

However, even today, the private sector unions have lost their ways as well. I can't believe that the UAW actually supported the recent South Korean FTA. Apparently, they didn't learn anything from NAFTA, did they? The leadership has become ignorant and stupid because of auto dues collection and auto re-certification. Hoffa loved voluntary dues collection and re-certification elections because it kept people involved with their union and made the union stronger. It also meant that strong union workers didn’t tolerate the poor union workers and kind of self policed themselves in this regard. Definitely not the case today!

They also lost touch with the mantras of solidarity and brotherhood. How many union members today purchase foreign and non-union labor made vehicles? You'd think that if they were serious about those credos, you wouldn't see a foreign non-union made vehicle in any of the local parking lots or public school faculty parking lot right?

Comment_arrow

James R Hoffa

2:18 am on Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Needless to say, close to 70% of public school faculty own foreign non-union made vehicles. But then these same people have the nerve to shout things like 'solidarity' and 'brotherhood' at our state Capitol - it makes me sick!

The real Hoffa wouldn't have tolerated that kind of disloyalty to fellow union brethren, that's for sure! And yet, most people don’t even consciously think that way anymore today – it’s a travesty!

The true fault for the problems our nation faces today lies not in Wall Street, or the 1%, or even the government. The true enemy is your neighbor who bought a Prius instead of a Chevy Volt. Or your neighbor who built a bigger house using Chinese drywall instead of settling for decently sized house built with American made drywall. In other words, the true enemy has been our collective consumerist habits that have greedily sold out our own nation to our foreign competitors. Pure and simple.

Yeah, the cigs for kids sigs scandal smells to me too. But like I said before, if they want to waste their time collecting invalid signatures and contributing to each other's eventual development of lung cancer - be my guest!

If they do manage to trigger a recall election, Walker still wins the election by a 10 point margin, +/- 2 point margin of error. I already did the analysis by the numbers based upon the outcomes of the recent senatorial recalls and the Prosser v Klopp ‘referendum’ on Walker’s policies over on an older board.

Its funny cause I see a lot of recall Walker stickers on the backs of Kia's, Toyota's, Nissans, Honda's, ect ect ect. Now being a proclaimed Union supporter car from Korea or Japan?
Yes I understand GM has plants in Mexico and we as citizens have no control over that but GM, Ford, Chrysler are more American than Kia.
Again it has nothing to do with solidarity but rather having something taken away that they feel is a right!!! As mentioned earlier Mr James Hoffa himself would not be happy with all u left winging toyota, nissan, honda, kia driving progressives.

@Dave, we have noticed the same thing. When we go to our local school to vote, it is a sea of foreign vehicles. When I was on a union board in the 1980's, most on the board were driving foreign cars and at the meetings there were a lot of foreign cars. And that was before they started shipping so much of the manufacturing out of the country. Sad part is we are now in a situation where it really doesn't matter. Especially when stimulus money is handed out to auto manufacturing companies owned by foreign countries.

Something to ponder while you lefty libs promote your recall walker mus. Because obviously if you are against Gov Walker then you must be Obama supporters.

Barack Obama's 32 Month Report Card
by Rich Carroll

Mr. Hope and Change wants to create a nation humbled; humiliated, casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where we the people are government controlled. This would be a system that genuflects mediocrity, steals personal aspiration and opportunity, and punishes those who strive to succeed.

A gallon of regular gasoline the day Obama was inaugurated was $1.79 on average in the U.S. Today that price is $3.59, a 100.6% increase. The number of food stamp recipients has risen since Obama took office from 31,983,716 to 43,200,878, a 35.1% jump. Long term unemployment soared 146.2% during the same 32 month period from 2,600,000 to 6,400,000. Staggering hope and change isn't it?

American citizens living in poverty have risen 9.5% from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000, and the number of unemployed has jumped almost 25% from 11,616,000 to 14,485,000 as of August 31, 2011. The number of unemployed blacks has risen from 12.6% at the end of George Bush's term to 15.8% today, a 25.4% increase, and finally, our national debt is up 34.4% from 10.627 trillion to 14,278 trillion *

Wow David, what a mistake. Readers please be patient while provide with this mind-blowing documentation of criminal activity from the Bush/Cheney Koch Bros crime syndicate, but first, this little statement to wet your palate:

Today New Gingrich, the current front runner in the republican primary race, said this:

"CHILD LABOR LAWS ARE STUPID"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/21/newt-gingrich-child-labor-lobbyist_n_1105178.html

This monstrously abhorrent statement is evidence 1, amongst thousands, of the types of individuals that we as a society are dealing with

If you'll notice, dave's posts talk about flag pins, dog trainers and your basic potpourri of FoxNews regurgitated talking points, I on the other hand, have given you a much more substantial and critical listings of egregious Bushco crime syndicate activities.
"Fox News viewers are less informed than people who don't watch any news, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that "people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government" and "6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government" compared to those who watch no news."
"the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all."

Actually, Say What?, the Nobel committee awarded it's prize for economics this year to two economists for a study that, amongst other things, points to uncertainty as an important consideration that comes into play when companies are making decisions on whether to expand or not. If you're suggesting that there's no degree of uncertainty to be concerned about out there right now, you've not been paying much attention to what's been going on in Europe, which most definitely will have an effect on our economic future - let alone the things going on in this country currently.

But see you all are so quick to re-call him because he stood up and is trying to make a difference. And yes I can blame the Obama machine for the current State of our Country. His policies have obviously failed!!!! About all he has managed to do is jack up the debt to 15 trillion and give his thugish wall street cronies tax payer money!! He still wants to spend tax payer money because his fix is revuilding the roads and bridges which once again is tax payer money. Get out of the private sector rather than trying to coddle us all!!

Newt's idea about having kids working to clean their schools might just have some merit. In Japan, school students spend time cleaning their schools every day. It is thought to build pride, work ethic and makes them think twice about defacing a surface that they themselves will be responsible for cleaning...

@Ramirez-I actually do not affiliate myself with any particular party but rather the qualified individual and one who does what he says!! Its not a matter of republican, democrat, independent or what ever. But rather the true conservative patriotic leader. One who holds Americas promotes the basic American values and beliefs, one who believes in limited Government. Gov Walker has made some stand alone leadership decisions that has ruffled some feathers. He is a GREAT leader. Obama has done nothing but organize as that is what he is a community organizer and nothing more.

@Ramirez-In answer to your question.......Now that you have put the typical progressive left liberal spin on it now, I will share my thoughts.
I do not know your age or where or how you were raised. But I can tell you I was raised to work hard at a very young age, to be proud, to be responsible and that there was nothing I could not accomplish with hard work, pride, self asteem and honor.
The problem with todays society is the furtue generations are and h ave been coddled to no end!! These young kids feel they are owed something, they feel they deserve something extra, they are lazy, they lack respect, and they most def lack self motivation!!! In my generation I was mucking stalls at the age of 12 years old. Not only did that build self pride, self worth it taught me some very valuable life lessons. I grew up knowing if I wanted something that I needed to work hard to obtain my goal that know one was just going to hand it to me. I learned to appreciate those things I worked hard for, I learned respect and most of all I learned a valuable work ethic that has carried me thru life.
What Newt has suggested is something I most def agree with!!!! Our forefathers came to this Country worked hard and made this Country such a great Country. But people such as yourself has to completely twist it around. Again your way of thinking is directly responsible for creating such a lazy generation of young people who feel they are owed something!!!!!

@Ramirez- The youth of today have no clue what it means to work hard!!! Not all youth are lazy but a large portion are. We only can blame the progressive left socialists for this transformation.
I was taught when you get knocked down, get right back up and push forward!! The message today is oh just reach out and Obama will be there to pick you up.

Dave,
Don't be an idiot, blame their parents. If you are unhappy with the quality of youth it is parenting that is your problem. Period. It is too damn easy to blame other people, like the garbageman, the guy who works at the gas station, your local librarian. What are the parents doing to raise their kids?

@Say What- Obama preaches drink the koolaid or else. I see it in youth sports with all the parents who whine when their little Johnny or Suzy dont get equal playing time, or when an opposing team runs up the score. Its all about equality and fairness these days.
I dont coddle my kids at all! When I was young I had to earn it, nothing was handed to me. I was taught there were consequences for my actions!! These days we have to be so politically correct for fear of offending someone.
This Country was founded on Christian principles and values now we must cater to the muslims, gays and lesibians and anyone who may not proclaim Christianity. That is the very foundation of what made our Country so great. Those who choose to come here needs to respect out belief system. Yes they are free to practice their beliefs but thats it!!! We should not be required to hide our religion for fear of offending our fellow muslim, athiest, or any other religion for that matter.
We are a Country of Laws and those who come here must abide by those laws. If you come here illegally then there must be consequences period!!

Just as the private Catholic University that is being sued due to the muslims who attend the University are whining they have no place to prey with having a cross staring at them. DUHHHHHHHH dont attend a Catholic University then, but no the University will be required to build a special room just for them.
Call me what you want but thats BS

Dave,
Your inability as a parent to raise your kids with your belief structure is not societies problem. Our nation was founded on this concept, this exact freedom, and when you fail you want to get rid of those who dont share your beliefs? Kind of the double standard of political beliefs that I have come to accept from the religious right.

Rodney, when you have to take a break because you've typed your fingers down to stubby little nubbins, how about sending some money to the Recall Walker campaign so that our printers, media outlets and food and lodging industries here can benefit from the gigantic hissy fit your side is throwing. It's the least you can do, since you're not a taxpayer in this state and won't be on the hook for the bills associated with all this nonsense.

Talk is cheap. Back it up with some bucks.

Might not put me at the top of the list of most conservatives, but I actually think more conservatives share my beliefs than one might think. I hope you and your family ave a happy Thanksgiving!!!

Yes parents are to blame up to a certain point but also society is to blame as well. We as Americans have all but forgotten what it means to work hard.
