Report: Sierra Club Will Sue We Energies After Bluff Collapse
Notice of intent mentions coal ash that entered Lake Michigan.
The environmental advocacy group Sierra Club plans to sue We Energies following the bluff collapse at the Oak Creek power plant Oct. 31, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Wednesday afternoon.
The newspaper reported that a notice of intent was served on We Energies Wednesday as a precursor to an enforcement action that would be filed in federal court. It includes mention of coal ash at the bottom of Lake Michigan and calls it an "imminent and substantial endangerment to human health," which We Energies and others have disputed.
