Hovde Wins Debate

On Wednesday, April 12, I debated Kip Smith, Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald (R-Horicon) and Congressman Mark Neumann in Waukesha.
From jobs and the economy to taxes, spending and health care, I spoke about how I am the only candidate with the real world, practical experience to fix the mess created in Washington by career politicians and political insiders.
During the debate, I talked about a number of issues:
On experience: “I’ve spent 25 years in the private sector building companies, turning around companies and creating hundreds of jobs.”
On the budget: “We have to be honest with ourselves. We have to bring our baseline back to 2006 before all the crazy spending, and I think we also need to focus on the growth side. We need to give confidence to business people…so they will make an investment in this economy and create jobs.”
On raising the debt ceiling: “The most irresponsible thing career politicians have done over the last two decades is raise the debt ceiling...without balancing the budget.”
On ObamaCare: “We need to push our health care system back in a private sector direction. We need to allow people to make choices for themselves.”
On Green Energy subsidies: “This is crony capitalism at its worst…campaign contributions for guaranteed government loans are fundamentally wrong”

Really? Did we really post an article BY Eric Hovde about how Eric Hovde is the best to the front page of the Patch?

Hovde did very well as well as Neumann, Smith and Fitzgerald.
They all would be a whole lot better than the far-left Liberal extremist Tammy Baldwin.

I hope he refers to himself as "Hovde," in the 3rd person, on the campaign trail.

I was there and Mark Nuemann is getting my vote. Jeff Fitzgerald was also good and will likely one day make a very good senator.
Hovde's blanket statement that we need to leave Afghanastan show that he isn't ready to lead on a national level. Neumann stated it's the job of the President to tell Congress what the mission is in war and Obama has failed to do that.
Neumann has a plan for the budget that brings spending under control in a reasonable timeframe of 5 years. Hovde stated it should only take 2-3 years, which is unreasonable.

Who declares themselves the winner in any debate unless they are completely narcissistic? To begin with - everything he is proposing is everything I am against. This guy sounds like a rank amateur, and with all of the recent BS from the GOP re: women, I will NOT endorse or vote republican. They need to go back - way back to the days when republicans were rational instead of taking us back to the old days of women being seen as possessions.

Debate winners are obvious at times. The best answers to the tough questions always determine the winner. He has a shot not because he Ron Johnson , but because he sees the problems and states the solutions the best. The outsiders if successful people have a solid chance because they got that way by being results driven. A career politician seldom has proved there own worth. Too many in both parties treat public service as a career rather than a duty. Hovde has something alot of voters like. No experience at the political games and a desire to change that status quo . I think hes a very solid candidate early on.

He will be another Ron Johnson, remember him? A failure in one year as a Senator, in the news for not being able to work with others.
Maybe he should resign and go back to the plastics mill shouting orders and firing people.
Allow me to correct myself. Hovde will not even measure up to Ron Johnson's dismal performance as our soon to be senior senator from Wisconsin.

Dirk-- Senator Ron Johnson has done more in his first year than Herbie has done in decades. Johnson as a freshman ran for a leadership position in the senate and almost won garnering alot of votes from more senior senators. With Johnson, for the first time in decades, my family has a United States Senator that represents us.

Keith - Ron Johnson may represent your views, but can he really get things done for you, or maybe you do not want anything done?
He seems to be a placeholder until swept out in the next election. Maybe a little Hollywood style news generation like spats with his staff, some firings, and shunning by his peers will get him some name recognition in Wisconsin.
