So, I'm trying to post a little more this week because, brace yourselves, I'm leaving on vacation on Friday. I'll be gallavanting around from May 18 through the 26 and, since I am laptopless, won't be blogging. Don't be upset! I'm sure I'll come back with loads of stories and so forth. And, if you simply can't bear my absense (I know. Many people feel this way. The perils of popularity.), you can follow me around on Twitter.
For today, I give you this Monday Musing: Do you tend to read to the end of a chapter or can you stop anywhere?
I really like to read the end of a chapter. Or, if that's just not possible, at least a part of the chapter where there's a break-point.
What about you folks?

It's not that I won't stop in the middle of a chapter, but I generally do read to the chapter break as well. Depends on the book of course - sometimes there are breaks within a chapter (like the Keith Richards' autobiography I'm reading now) that make sense to stop.

I usually read to the chapter, but my biggest problem is authors who leave you hanging at the end of the chapter. If I am reading, it is usually at night....and I keep reading until I get to a part where I can go to sleep. But then there is the problem that once I am halfway through the chapter, I keep reading. Next thing you know I am at another cliff-hanger. This trend continues and before I know it, it is 3 a.m. and I am done with the book!

I read until something forces me to close the book. It's nice if I'm at a convenient break point, but that doesn't always happen.

I also try to finish a chapter before stopping. I always look to see how many pages are in the next chapter before I start reading it! I even do this with my Nook!

It depends on the length of the chapter. For James Patterson books, for instance, where the chapters are often just a page or two long, it's easy to read to the end of the chapter. But for others where chapters can run on for pages and pages and pages, I can stop anywhere, but I usually try to stop at the start of a paragraph on the top of the page.

I just put in my book mark and stop wherever I may be!
