Most of us have been in awe of raptors from afar; a hawk perched along the interstate intent on stalking a rodent, the sound of an owl.”hoot, hooting” in the nearby woods or turkey vultures riding the thermals far above in the sky. These and other birds of prey have special adaptations for survival as hunters such as keen eyesight, sharp beaks, talons and wide wing spans.
This weekend you can experience the wonder and beauty of the resident “Sky Hunters” at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center as they make a special appearance at the 5th Annual Xtreme Raptor Day. The “free flight” demonstrations are new this year and highlight the magnificent raptors' extreme talents as well as the skill, dedication and teamwork of the educators who work with the birds at the Center.
Treat yourself to Xtreme Raptor Day on Saturday, November 3 at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. You’ll be inspired by the raptors, energized with fun activities and rewarded by supporting the Sky Hunters birds of prey program at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. See you there!

My husband took our 3 young children to this 2 years ago and they were amazed! They talked about it for months and the following year, my son asked to be a paraffin falcon for Halloween. I'm not going to miss it this year.
