I would first of all like to thank the people of the 62nd District for giving me the chance to represent them in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Voters in Wind Lake, Raymond, Caledonia, Racine, Wind Point, North Bay, and Mt. Pleasant went to the polls last Tuesday and made their choice. I am honored by their decision and I will work to represent all of the citizens of the district. I would also like to thank all of my supporters and volunteers who made this possible. I could not have done this alone and I am grateful for their continued support. When the Legislature starts its new session in …
Editor's note: This letter to the editor was written in response to the letter written by Brian Pleva, of the American Federation For Children. To read his letter, click here. As a father and retired Racine Unified School District teacher, I understand the importance of having and maintaining a solid education policy in government. After all, how can we create a 21st century economy without the groundwork of a strong 21st century education system for our children? In Racine, and all across Wisconsin, we have seen more and more independent charter schools and voucher schools come forward to …
Former State Senator John Lehman should apologize to Racine families for his misleading statements on the Racine Parental Choice Program (RPCP), the school choice program that allows students from low-income and working class families to attend a participating private school of their parents’ choice. While speaking last week at a 21st Senate District candidates’ forum, Lehman claimed that private schools participating in the program were for-profit and fly-by-night entities taking advantage of RPCP, according to the Mount Pleasant Patch.  However, schools participating in the program are not-…

They truly have been “central to our spiritual, cultural, and social life,” as the proclamation points out. They have…
To whom it may concern: People are asking everybody why I took down my no wal-mart signs. Well here here is the answer, I just did not want to look at them any more. I think we made the point. Why not outreach to the community of Muslim Americans? They are generally well-educated, striving for success in the United States, hard working, entrepreneurial and friendly. They are wrongly feared and, thus, few communities reach out to them. Muslim Americans would buy and build houses, take up empty business buildings on Douglas and bring life, energy & tax base to our community. We would use existing facilities to create a dynamic community and make Caledonia a special place for bridging cultural separations and encouraging peace. Thank you,SKCaledonia Citizen
