"Caledonians Advocating Responsible Planning" sounds like the group Friends of Elmwood Park. That want the whole village to accept the views of what they think should happen. And to think, this people aren't even elected. So do we really care?? NO!

KEEP ON KEEPING ON

Transandy-I want no one to accept my views simply because it's my opinion or what I think "should" happen. No, I am not elected, only a concerned citizen. Please, come to the meeting and see the research and objective statistical evidence. And by the way, in my subjective opinion, I think we should care.

i think it would be a bad move. the area cannot support it and the traffic would be
terrible.. Not to mention there are other areas it would be more suitable.. Put it down
on Douglas and South st. in Racine. I think if they put one in the area that would seriously cut my losses and MOVE !

Put it at the corner of 4 mile and 31, where it was proposed last year, it really is a good location for something like this... better than the alternative proposal.

The sad thing is CARP (I like that... inidicative of smelly fish that most people do not care for) or CCREP or whatever that group calls itself this week is by its very nature going to be more vocal and more organized than those who merely "would like more stores and options" on our end of greater Racine. Those who do not want it will be louder, will have the stickers, pins, ribbons, shirts, etc... and those who would like a store, are generally just going to voice support on forums and such. I would like a Walmart or a Target and/or more restaurant options on our end of town... but since I am not going to be making or wearing shirts or holding signs I realize my voice is going to be under-represented. I just hope the city and Walmart or any other business realizes that. I honestly believe the majority of those who say they do not want this kind of development WOULD actually use it if it were here. Much of those who are most vocal seem to be because they live near the area. The CCREP thing, more than any of the reasons, I think the overriding issue was the proximity to the guy's property and perhaps related to that new building being built back on that side of the road. It often boils down to personal interests or perceived personal gains or losses more than anything.

Proximity is not the overriding issue. The scope of the effect of this type of development on the village goes far beyond the immediate neighborhood. It won't be just the neighborhood paying for road improvements and police and fire support. It will not just be the neighborhood affected by business closings. It will not just be the neighborhood provided LESS options for shopping. Responsible development as suggested by SEVERAL studies and surveys done on this area by the Village, clearly states this type of development is not needed, not favored and in fact economically draining to the area. And no...I will never, ever, ever be seen shopping there.

I don't see the point of putting one on 4 Mile, There will be one exactly 5 miles down the road in a year.
