DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Come learn about the latest twis
t on GPSing called Geo-caching. Dave and Tamara Janowski\, members of Ca
ledonia Conservancy\, will introduce you to Geo-caching which takes trea
sure hunting one step further by using GPS apps or GPS units to locate h
idden treasures.&nbsp\; To learn more about Geo-caching\, meet up with D
ave and Tamara and other members of Caledonia Conservancy at Trout Ponds
Prairie\, one of Caledonia Conservancy&rsquo\;s preserved parcels that
has ponds\, woods\, prairie with Root River running along the southern
 border of the parcel.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Geo-ca
ching is really popular among families and nature lovers\, as it is time
well spent in a beautiful natural outdoor environment\, while having a
good time treasure hunting. The name of the game is a combination of "Ge
o" from geography and "Caching" from the action of hiding the cache (or
treasure). The term cache is commonly used among hikers to refer to a hi
dden treasure.\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Anyone armed with a GPS uni
t and a sense of adventure can play. Caledonia Conservancy is a non-prof
it land trust organization and has several public access parcels of cons
erved land that contain beautiful trails for hiking\, nature walkers\, h
orse back riding\, and in the winter some parcels are groomed for cross
country skiing.&nbsp\;\nGeo-caching centralizes on three simple rules:\n
\nFind the cache and claim the prize.\nLeave another cache prize
behind\nRecord the discovery in the log book.\n\nWhat&rsquo\;s i
n the cache? \n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; The actual items placed in t
he cache are entirely up to the person responsible for hiding the cache.
Items can range from something as simple as a log book that each person
that finds the cache can contribute to. More generous caches could cont
 ain books\, CDs or other desirable items.\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
The items left in the cache are completely up to each person\, although
common sense and decency dictate that perishable\, dangerous of offensiv
e items be omitted. Items are placed in a water-tight container along wi
th a log book and pen to creating a running record of cache-finders.&nbs
p\;\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Please join Dave and Tamara and
Caledonia Conservancy members to learn more about Geo-caching on Saturd
ay\, June 16 at Trout Ponds Prairie.&nbsp\; Park at entrance to Trout Po
nds Prairie parking lot on the southwest corner of the Hwy. 31 &amp\; 4
Mile Rd. intersection.&nbsp\; Bring the family for a fun time!&nbsp\;&nb
