Caledonia Conservancy Community Daze!

Look what's happening in Caledonia on Sunday, September 15. Rap with the Raptors during the Birds of Prey demonstration during Caledonia Conservancy's 2nd Annual Community Daze.  This friend-raiser runs from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 15 at King's Corner, 4813  5 Mile Road, located on the southwest corner of Hwy 31 and 5 Mile Road. This day is packed with outdoor family fun and features activities designed to help imaginations run wild with nature.  Presentations include a Bird of Prey demonstration by Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, a dog agility display by the Racine Kennel Club and a chance to get up-close and personal with a pet-able porcupine, un-stinky skunk and a giant tortoise from Jo Don Farm.  Youngsters will be able to participate in an outdoor scavanger hunt, view pond organisms through a microscope, compare the features of owls, hawks and falcons, learn about bees and pick a turtle out of the turtle pond.  Come and hear why school kids are having so much fun in the School to Nature program offered by Caledonia Conservancy and trained volunteers.  Other activities include an introduction to bug collecting (nets included) and nature-based arts and crafts projects.  Hay rides through the prairie pulled by EZE driving the tractor and if you get hungry, you can roast hot dogs over a campfire and everyone's favorite s'mores!   Food is for purchase.
Scheduled activities are:
1:00 - 2:00  Birds of Prey Presentation by Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.  Meet an owl, hawk and falcon.  Learn about them from their handler and ask questions.
2:30 - 3:30 Dog agility display by Racine Kennel Club. Well-behaved dogs on  leashes are welcome to observe and tryout their own agility stunt after the display.
Remember to stop by the other Caledonia celebrations going on same weekend at Caledonia Historical Society, Eco-Justice Center and Racine Heritage Museum's Little Bohemia School.
