Burn Ban Lifted in Caledonia, Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant

Though the burn ban is off, residents are encouraged to exercise caution.

South Shore Fire Chief William Bouma announced Thursday and Caledonia Fire Chief Dick Roeder announced Tuesday that the burn ban is lifted for the Caledonia, Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant.

, according to Geoff Greiveldinger, chief of staff for Racine County.

According to an email from Bouma, conditions from the state Department of Natural Resources are listing Racine County as "moderate."

, saying the ban would remain in effect until conditions improve.

"The 'No Open Burning Ban' has been discontinued due to the updated DNR Website listing Racine County at moderate conditions," he said in his message.

Rules remain in place, though, Bouma and Roeder added.

"Anyone requesting to burn in either village must comply with the normal regulations and start by calling 995-1209 and follow the prompts for the village in question," Bouma concluded.
