Caledonia Home Prices Increase, But Mount Pleasant Prices Take A Dive

But on the upside -- home sales have increased by 25 percent.

Home sales may be up in Racine County, but buyers are still getting a good deal - except in Caledonia.

According to a story in The Journal Times, the number of houses that sold in Racine County with the help of brokers grew by 25 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same timeframe last year. But while sales grew, prices fell in most communities—but not in Caledonia. 

Somehow bucking that trend was Caledonia, where the average purchase price climbed from $155,060 in first quarter 2011 to $170,924 in this first quarter. That was based on 45 sales last year and 44 this year.

Mount Pleasant housing prices have not fared well as prices dropped from $172,945 the first quarter in 2011 to $125,262 in the first quarter of 2012, a decrease of 27.6 percent.
