Zoological Society Holiday Gift Guide:

Spider Monkey Ornament, Lion Cub Sponsorship & More

From a spider monkey ornament to a Zoo Pass to a sponsorship of the Zoo’s three lion cubs, the Zoological Society’s holiday gift guide has lots for animal lovers. To purchase, see www.zoosociety.org, call (414) 258-2333 or stop in the Zoological Society’s office at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Gift proceeds go toward the Zoological Society of Milwaukee’s mission to conserve animals, educate people about wildlife and to support the Zoo.

1)      Gift sponsorship of the Zoo’s three lion cubs. A sponsorship gift for $45 includes three plush-toy lions (two males, one female). It also includes a certificate of sponsorship and other goodies (shipping is $5).

2)      Spider monkeys love to hang from trees—and just about anything they can get their hands, feet and tails on. A spider monkey holiday ornament, crafted by Cedarburg artist Andy Schumann, is the perfect decoration to hang in your home this year. You can purchase the monkey or past individual ornaments for $14 each or the whole collection of 20 ornaments for $240 and save $40.

3)      The Zoological Society offers gift certificates that cater to many tastes, ages and budgets. You can purchase gift certificates to our events geared toward families, such as Snooze at the Zoo ($140 for a family), or events for adults, like Wines & Beers of the World ($80). Or, use it for a Zoo Pass Plus membership ($99 for a family of four). You can also get a gift certificate for a Zoological Society Education class for a child ages 4 or 5 years old.

4)      Budding adolescent conservationists will enjoy a membership to the Zoological Society’s Kids Conservation Club. Membership is $20 per child and includes endangered-animal collector cards, an invitation to a behind-the-scenes event for animal sponsors at the Zoo, hands-on workshops for kids and parents and more.

5)      A Zoo Pass membership gives recipients free admission to the Milwaukee County Zoo 365 days a year. You can even include parking with the Zoo Pass Plus. Members receive great perks, including free or discounted admission to more than 150 zoos and aquariums nationwide and much more. Family memberships start at $65 (other membership levels are available).

The Zoological Society will begin mailing gifts after the Thanksgiving holiday, unless otherwise requested.  To guarantee holiday delivery via the mail, the Society needs to receive orders by Dec. 17, 2011. Express mail delivery is available after Dec. 17 for a fee; call (414) 258-2333 for details.
