Local Exterminator Advises 'Show No Fear' to Wasps

Summer's softly buzzing bumblebee gives way to autumn wasps and hornets.

The season of the summer bumblebee is passing into the fall of the wasp and hornet, and residents in Racine County are understandably a little wary.

Kelly Modesti of Caledonia woke up the morning of her wedding anniversary to a bedroom full of wasps, according to a story on 620WTMJ.

Mount Pleasant Village Administrator Kurt Whalen told the radio station that some 60 wasp nests have been located at Village Hall, which makes visitors and staff members a little nervous.

The first hard frost will make all the difference because wasps and hornets eat other bugs, Wally Ross of Critter Gitters says, and those insects can't survive that kind of cold.

Until then, though, Ross advises people to hide their fear if they come across wasps or hornets and walk calmly away.
