Arbee's New, Popular Beer Options

Arbee's offers several new and hard-to-find varieties, plus a make-your-own six-pack option for anyone looking to try new brews without spending a lot.

Arbee's owner Ashok Patel gives a tour of the new and popular beer in the Douglas Avenue liquor store.

Sprecher Hard Root Beer This is a harder-to-find offering from Milwaukee-based Sprecher Brewery, Patel said. Arbee's was one of only a handful of stores in Racine and Kenosha who carried it. Based off the popular root beer—but with an alcoholic kick—this is a popular choice this time of year.

Redd's Apple Ale This is a "very refreshing" apple ale, Patel said, that tastes less like a traditional hard cider and more like a refreshing malt beverage.

Beck's Sapphire Another popular choice, this beer has a 6 percent alcohol content, about 50 percent higher than most beers.

Irish brews Arbee's has plenty of Guinness to go around (and Patel said they've been stockpiling it), so St. Patty's Day won't clear them out. They also offer Smithwick's Ale, a lighter Irish brew. In Ireland, pubs offer it from the tap, mixed with something called red lemonade, a lemon-flavored soda.

Make-your-own six pack This relatively new addition to the shop lets people choose the bottles that will go into their six-packs. Patel said this has been popular, especially with people ready to explore.

"Sometimes they're tired of the same thing or don't have enough money to buy many to try," Patel said. "But when they try one and like it, then they buy a whole six pack."
