To Stadium Tax or Not To Stadium Tax?

Gov. Scott Walker says no.

Ahhh yes, Racine County's hatred for the Miller Park stadium tax is alive and well.

The Journal Setinel is reporting that Gov. Scott Walker, the former Milwaukee County Executive, vehemenantly opposes the extension of the one-tenth of one percent sales tax. Racine County is among several counties that have been on the hook for the tax since 1996 and now they want to extend it.

Sen. Van Wanggaard also issued a statement this morning saying that any argument that Racine County benefits from having the stadium in Milwaukee is false.

“Racine County never should have been included in the Miller Park sales tax area,” Wanggaard said. “It’s bad enough that we’re paying for Miller Park. Extending the sales tax for another purpose is just rubbing salt in the wound.”
