Local Business in Racine Under New Ownership

Born and raised in Racine, Mike Hart has worked in the printing industry since his days at Washington Park High School - always holding on to a lifelong dream of owning his own print shop. Joining Econoprint in 1985, Hart worked his way through the ranks and most recently purchased the Racine division.

Hart began working at the Milwaukee division of Econoprint and has created continual growth and improvements in the company since that time. He was promoted to General Manager of the Racine division in 1989. The firm soon purchased Mercury Rapid Print and Royal Printing, and then consolidated the Racine locations shortly thereafter.

The added improvements, capacity, and centralized location allowed Econoprint to “weather the digital storm” in an era where many traditional print shops closed. He added a 5-color printing press in 2005, becoming the first small commercial shop in the area with this ability. His shop also provided full mailing services and large format printing long before others.

Due to the acquisition, he recently brought services on-site that were previously performed at the Milwaukee location, including human resources and finance - providing local job opportunities in Racine.

“Moving from operations and production to business ownership is an exciting new challenge for me,” says Hart. “I’ve become very involved in the administration and accounting aspects of the business and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.”

Under the same management, Econoprint plans to continue supporting business growth, provide exceptional service to their customers and maintain relationships with current vendors. They will also remain members of the Downtown Racine Corporation, Kenosha Area Business Alliance, Kenosha Chamber, Waterford Area Chamber, and Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce.

With his family in Racine, Hart is dedicated to the local community. He is an avid outdoorsman who currently resides in Caledonia with Diane, his wife of 23 years, and his son Austin. He is also active with United Way and a member of the Marketing Community Board for Lakeside Curative.
