PTA involvement

Please come join the North Park PTA on Tuesday November 15th!

Why hello my fellow Patchers!  I just wanted to put a quick note out there for all of you North Park Elementary parents that Tuesday, November 15th is our next PTA meeting.  The PTA meeting is held in the school library and begins at 5pm. My children have attended North Park for 3 years now and I've been an active member of PTA and a school volunteer.

There is rarely a field trip you won't find me on, a PTA project that I'm not involved in.  Sadly, I feel like I am a bit of a rarity.  I walk my kids to school each day and listen to parents talk about important good and bad school issues on the sidewalks in front of the school, at each others cars, walking home after the bell rings, but I don't see many parents at the PTA meetings.  Are you aware that North Park has a 100 percent teacher membership in its Parent Teacher Association, but only three to four parents come to meetings?

Come to the meetings and share your thoughts, get to know the principal, see what you can do to help improve our children's school.  I truly feel that my kids are happier knowing that mom knows the teachers, and not just their teachers.  They love seeing me volunteer in the office, or at the dances.  Being involved in our children's lives not only teaches them that we love and care about their everyday things, but that we feel that their job, going to school, is important!

I feel that my kids are less likely to be bullied or picked on because most of the kids in the school know ME too.  I make a point to know as many names of the children as I can, to say hi in the morning, to be a good adult in their lives.  I know as busy adults, we often don't have a lot of free time, but PTA takes ONE HOUR A MONTH of your time, and there's usually free cookies, how can you go wrong.  I really really really hope to see a few Patch reading parents there!  Come help make a difference.
