Douglas Avenue Closed to Traffic South of South Street

Construction is expected to last several months; lane closures will start at 3 Mile Road, according to The Journal Times.

Parts of one of the most heavily-traveled roads south into Racine are now closed, while crews install water mains, The Journal Times reported this week.

The project could take up to five months to complete, a Water Utility engineer told the newspaper. The first closure began shuts Douglas Avenue down to traffic between Yout and South streets for up to two months. Lane closures will move farther north later in the summer, The Journal Times reported.

The water main work is happening this year, The Journal Times reported, because the Department of Transportation will be working on the road next year.
