Elderly Man Cited for Disorderly Conduct After Masturbation Incident

The same man who was cited for exposing himself to neighbors on Mother's Day was arrested for disorderly conduct and cited for trespassing.

Melvin Brown, 77, was taken into custody Monday afternoon for disorderly conduct after Caledonia police say he admitted to walking up his neighbor’s driveway in the pre-dawn hours even though he knew he shouldn’t be on her property. 

According to police reports, a neighbor told a woman that Brown was seen standing by her car in her driveway at 4:30 a.m. Monday. The woman called CAPD to make a report, telling officers she is a victim/witness from an incident on Mother’s Day when Brown was masturbating in front of his house. She also told police that Brown is not allowed on her property because of a no contact order.

The police did not locate a no-contact order as a condition of his bond from the May charges. The woman said she fears for her safety and said Brown has attempted to visit her before and only when her boyfriend isn’t home, the report reads.

When officers spoke with Brown, they say he admitted to being in the woman’s driveway but said he was there because he thought he saw someone trying to break into her car. He told police the person went around the house and left on foot and didn't sway his story even when officers reminded him that he shouldn't be on the woman's property.
