Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Racine County

Heavy rains could lead to flash floods, warns National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Racine and Kenosha counties through Friday morning.

The weather service reports very heavy rainfall could come Thursday afternoon and overnight from a stationary front of thunderstorms in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, making flash flooding likely.

The storms could produce rainfall rates between 1 and 3 inches per hour, the weather service reports, which would result in flash floods. The heavy rain could cause "rapid flooding" of creeks, streams, roads, low lying areas and basements.
