Hundreds of People Attend State Budget Hearing Tonight

But they didn't go to State Fair Park, they went to Gateway Technical College.

The Great Lakes Room at Gateway Technical College in Racine was packed Monday night and the topic of discussion was Governor Scott Walker's budget.

Representatives Cory Mason (D-Racine) and Bob Turner (D-Racine)  set the public hearing after they felt Racine should have had one.

Even though thousands may have attended one set for West Allis, hundreds showed up to the one in Racine. Speaker after speaker talked about the impact of the budget cuts on everything from buses to the technical college to the environment. Ideas about raising taxes on the rich, multi-state corporations and investors were thrown into the discussion.

The bottomline, most of the group didn't like Walker's proposed budget because they say it takes too much from the poor and the middle class.
