Kremer Subdivision Assessment on Village Board Agenda

When Caledonia trustees meet Monday night, they will have a first reading of a resolution regarding the special assessment for work in the Kremer subdivision.

Work on replacing the sewer and water lines in Kremer - roughly bordered by 3-Mile and 4-Mile roads, Douglas Avenue and Charles Street - got underway a few weeks ago. To help pay for the work, residents will be assessed a fee first estimated to be about $5,500 per lot.

But, Village President Bob Bradley told Patch last month he wants to be sure the village is doing everything it can do to lessen the financial impact on residents.

"We're going to work on a logical and compassionate method of assessment," Bradley added. "I want to make sure the village is covering as much of the costs as possible so there's as little as possible left for the assessment."

Additionally, board members are expected to approve conditional use requests for the drive-thru and a sign at A&W's new location and for the Siena Center to continue with the second phase of the construction for a senior living complex.

The Caledonia Village Board meets at 7 p.m. at the Eastside Community Center, 6156 Douglas Avenue.
