Caledonia police announced at 7:12 p.m. that Eugene Hardy was found safe.

**Updated 7:25 p.m.

Caledonia police say a missing man who may have been suicidal has been located and is safe.

CAPD Lt. Gary Larsen issued an updated press release at 7:12 p.m.

"Mr. Hardy has been located and is safe. We appreciate the assistance that was provided," he wrote in an email to media. "He is receiving treatment and was not injured."

Eugene Hardy, 50, is a white male, 5'9" tall and around 260 pounds and was last seen wearing a Milwaukee Brewers t-shirt with "Hardy" on the back, khaki shorts and glasses.

CAPD Sgt. Brian Wall confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Hardy was believed to be driving a black, 200 Dodge Durango with the license plate of 924-NZP.

Wall also told Patch that Hardy was last seen around 11:45 a.m. in Mount Pleasant around Washington Avenue and Sunnyslope. He said officers were in almost constant contact with the family.

"We've been in contact with the family all day and they are helping us track his movements through bank records of where he uses his debit card," Wall said.

Neither CAPD nor the family knew Hardy's location as of 2:45 p.m., but they continued actively searching.

Hardy recently made suicidal statements and phoned a suicide prevention hotline. Police contacted hospitals and area shelters for any reports of a man fitting Hardy's description was treated or spent time there, but they came up empty.

Hardy was seen around 5 p.m. Monday near Festival Hall in Racine, but when family members spotted him, he ran. Calls to his cell phone didn't go through, and police suspect it was off.
