Sheriff's Deputies Seize 134 Marijuana Plants from Caledonia Residence

A Caledonia man is facing multiple felony drug charges after officers say he had a cache of weapons and a marijuana growing operation at his house.

Caledonia resident Raymond Gullan is facing multiple drug charges after officers with the Racine County Metro Drug Unit Tuesday found a sophisticated grow operation at his house.

Gullan, 45, was taken into custody at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant during what police say was a marijuana delivery. Gullan had four ounces of pot and a loaded 9mm handgun in his car at the time of the arrest, according to a press release from Racine County Sheriff Chris Schmaling.

After officers had Gullan secured, they executed  a search warrant on his home in the 7700 block of Highway V and discovered a cache of weapons and a sophisticated growing operation.

In addition to an assault rifle, three semi-automatic handguns and ammunition discovered, officers say they also found a pound of marijuana, 42 grams of hashish and 134 marijuana plants being grown in an "indoor hydroponics marijuana grow operation."

Police say they placed Gullan under surveillance after they received a tip about his alleged drug activity.

At his initial appearance Wednesday, Gullan was charged only with carrying a concealed weapon and possession with the intent to deliver marijuana. Racine County Assistant District Attorney Robert Repischak told the court the discovery at Gullan's home came after he was already in custody, according to The Journal Times.

"There are going to be additional charges,” he is quoted as saying.

Court Commissioner Alice A. Rudebusch set Gullan's bail at $5,000 cash despite Defense Attorney Katie Gutowski arguing that he doesn't have a criminal record and is suffering from some health issues, the story in the newspaper reads.

Repischak told The Journal Times additional charges could be filed still this week but should be filed by the time Gullan heads to court on July 3 for his preliminary hearing.
