Community Invited to Caledonia Conservancy Community Daze - Outdoors

The Racine area community is
invited to "Rap with the Raptors "during Community Daze!  Hosted by the Caledonia Conservancy, the friend-raiser

runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday, Sept. 15 at King’s Corner, located on
southwest corner of Hwy. 31 and 5
Mile Road.  Presentations include a "birds of prey
demonstration by the Schlitz
Audubon Center",
dog agility display by the Racine Kennel Club and a chance to get up-close and
personal with a pet-able porcupine, un-stinky skunk and a giant tortoise from
Jo Don Farm.  Youngsters
will be able to participate
in an outdoor scavenger hunt, view pond organisms
through a microscope, compare the features of owls, hawks and falcons, learn
about bees and visit a turtle pond. Other activities include an introduction to
bug collecting (nets included), nature-based arts and crafts.  Hay rides
by EZE  and a chance to fill-up by
roasting hot dogs and s’mores will be offered through-out the day. Food is for

purchase. Scheduled activities include:        

1:00
- 2:00 p.m.: Birds of Prey Presentation by the Schlitz Audubon Society: Meet an
owl, hawk and falcon, learn about them from their handler and ask questions.        

2:30
- 3:30 Racine

Kennel Club: Dog agility display.
Well-behaved dogs on leashes welcome to

observe and try an agility stunt after the display. Fun for the whole family!

Founded
in 1994, the Caledonia Conservancy is non-profit land trust dedicated to
preserving the rural character of the Village of Caledonia.

The Conservancy and its volunteer Board of Directors take direct action to

protect and care for land for outdoor public recreation. To date, the land

trust has protected more than 200-acres which include trails and are open year
around to the public.
