Racine AAUW - A Night of Traditional North American Storytelling to Celebrate the Winter Solstice

RACINE AAUW MEMBERS TO HEAR A NIGHT OF TRADITIONAL NORTH
AMERICAN STORYTELLING TO CELEBRATE WINTER SOLSTICE: 



David and Amy Maack will present “A Night of Traditional
North American Storytelling to Celebrate the Winter Solstice” at the Racine
AAUW meeting on Tuesday, December 3, at the Racine Marriott, 7111 Washington
Ave.

Registration is at 6:00 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and
program at 7:30 p.m.  A craft fair to
raise money for higher education for women starts at 5:30 p.m.   



Reservations can be made by sending a $23.00 check, made
out to Racine AAUW, to Pat Holt, PO Box 214, Somers, WI 53171.  The deadline for reservations is November 27.

While the program can be attended free-of-charge,
reservations are still requested in order to have enough seating.  Call 262-859-3085. 



David Maack’s grandfather was
raised on the White Earth Reservation in northern Minnesota, and David
regularly returns for cultural and ceremonial activities.  He is on the Milwaukee Indian Summer Festival
board of directors and is active with the Indian Summer Music Awards Committee. 



Amy, who was president of
Sacred Circle while attending UW-Parkside, is a traditional dancer and
singer.  She is a founding member of the
Strawberry Moon Women Singers, a traditional women’s hand drum group. 



The Maacks’ program is an educational
tool that they use to familiarize adults and children with the Native American
culture and the importance of keeping their traditions alive.
