Schools of Hope Informational Session

Schools of Hope Racine, a United Way-led initiative in partnership with Racine Unified School District, local businesses, and other concerned community members, provides young children with tutors on a regular basis to increase reading achievement in the early grades.

Schools of Hope volunteer tutors work one-on-one with students in first through third grades. Volunteers must be able to commit to one hour per week for at least one semester. No prior tutoring experience or education background is needed. Volunteers must consent to and pass a thorough background check. Schools of Hope will provide the training and materials you need to change a child's life!

Steps to becoming a Schools of Hope volunteer:

  1. Attend a required one hour informational session at United Way of Racine County, 2000 Domanik Drive, to learn about the Schools of Hope model and what you can expect as a tutor.
  2. After the informational session, complete a volunteer tutor application and consent to a background check.
  3. Volunteers accepted into the program will attend two mandatory tutor training sessions.
  4. Begin tutoring!
Sign up for an informational session at www.unitedwayracine.org/tutor-interest-form.
