Santa To Make An Early Appearance At 'A Downtown Holiday"

And he's got a "nice list" in hand.

Holiday magic descends upon Downtown Racine on Saturday, November 12 during A Downtown Holiday as merchants welcome Santa's arrival along with an entire "Nice List" of holiday gifts for sale.

Join the Downtown merchants as they display their holiday best with a great selection of paintings, photographs, fine handcrafted items, jewelry, ornaments and home décor.  Participating merchants will offer a host of discounts and specials ... all just in time for your holiday shopping. There will be complimentary refreshments served in the stores, street carolers along Main and 6th Streets and even a visit from Santa. Book donations for the Cops 'N Kids program will be collected throughout the day.  Your new or gently used childrens and holiday books can be dropped off at:

  • Uncorkt, 240 Main Street
  • Dover Flag & Map, 323 Main Street
  • Downtown Racine Corporation, 425 Main Street
  • Lakeview Pharmacy, 516 Monument Square Drive

Everyone is invited to Monument Square beginning at 4 p.m. for pre-parade activities including caroling and storytelling. You will also have an opportunity to meet and greet the Door County Sled Dogs which will be part of the Holiday Parade this year.  Refreshments will be available for sale.

At dusk, you will enjoy Downtown's much anticipated Holiday Parade which is sponsored by SC Johnson and Racine Reads: Dream Big!     "A Storybook Holiday" will be led by Booker the Owl and will include festive floats, elves, costumed characters, live reindeer, music and more. Children are reminded to bring their "letters to Santa".  U.S. postal workers will walk the parade route and collect the children's letters to be mailed to Santa.  The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and will go through the Downtown area on Main and 6th Streets.

Following the parade, everyone is invited to Monument Square as Downtown's Christmas Tree is lighted for the first time. There will be caroling led by the Living Light Christian Church members and then you'll watch as Booker lights the tree.  You'll want to witness this light extravaganza as over 15,000 lights are turned on simultaneously.
