Caledonia Man's Netflix Account Connects Him To Stolen Property

UPDATE: Law enforcement officials apprehended Perione Robbins, 22, who lives at 3032 Elderberry Road. Robbins faces charges from the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department and the Caledonia Police Department.

Sgt. Bill Beth, of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, confirmed that Robbins faces charges of identity theft in their jurisdiction and the Caledonia Police will be seeking charges for receiving stolen property. The case is still open and law enforcement officials are also looking at Robbins as a possible suspect in other property crimes.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, deputies with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department tracked a Play Station, which was stolen out of the Town of Somers during a buglary, to Robbins’ address. Law enforcement officials tracked Robbins through his Netflix application and his Time Warner account. During an interview with detectives with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, Robbins said he bought the Playstation from someone at a gas station in Racine.

ORIGINAL STORY: Numerous law enforcement officials surrounded a residence with their guns drawn at about 11:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 in the 3000 block of Elderberry Road.

An official with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that they, along with officers from the Caledonia and Racine police departments, executed a search warrant for a suspect in a burglary case they are investigating.

A man, who has not yet been idenitified, was taken into custody. Officials believe the man may be connected to a number of burglaries in the Kenosha, Racine and area.

“There is no reason for anyone in the area to be worried,” said Sgt. Bill Beth, of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.  “There is not and was not any threat to public or individual safety.”

Several neighbors say they may not have been threatened, but they witnessed a disturbing scene.

One neighbor, who wished not to be named, lives near the home where the search warrant was served.

“The officers were peering into the house when I pulled up,” the neighbor said. “They had officers in the yard with guns drawn. One had a shotgun, the others had handguns.  It looked like every squad car Caledonia owned was there. There were at least eight officers and a half dozen unmarked vehicles.

“This is a quiet neighborhood, we don’t ever seen that sort of thing happen here.

When the man left his house and drove past the residence, he asked an officer if there was a problem. The officer said there was no problem. He was carrying evidence collection bags.

A second neighbor, who also wished to remain anonymous, described a similar scene. However, she later saw a man sitting in the back of the car handcuffed.

“I didn’t see them take him out of the house and I didn’t recognize the man,” the woman said.

Sitting in the driveway for hours, a woman came home. Crying hysterically, she ran into the house.

“A half-hour later, they left with the suspect in the car,” the second neighbor said. “The woman then got a passenger and a child in the backseat out of the car and went into the home.”
