Caledonia Fire Department Assists In Putting Out South Milwaukee Blaze

Firefighters from the were among several departments that responded to a multi-family house fire in South Milwaukee Saturday, Oct. 8.

No one was hurt during the blaze. However, Caledonia, Franklin, Greenfield, West Allis, Oak Creek, Hales Corners, Raymond and the Racine Fire Bells responded to assist the South Milwaukee Fire Department through mutual aid.

Tony Aiello, a firefighter for Caledonia, said the department got the call at 9:15 a.m. and 20 minutes later they were on scene at 901 Monroe Street in South Milwaukee.

“Smoke pushed out of the eves of the home and shortly after flames shot out of the roof,” Aiello said.

Firefighters from Caledonia searched the basement and first floor of the home, which was empty. They also knocked down the walls of the second floor to make sure there wasn’t any fire behind the walls.

There was no damage to the basement or first floor. The fire is believed to have started on the second floor.
