Caledonia Man Charged With Contractor Fraud

Suspect allegedly took $3,400 to buy and install windows in 2010, but failed to do so.

A 31-year-old Caledonia man is facing charges after he allegedly took $3,400 from another man to install windows two years ago, but never did the job.

William J. Olson was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of theft by contractor. If convicted, he faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

In July 2010, the victim gave Olson a check for $3,400 after he hired him to purchase and install six windows on his home. However, Olson never got or installed the windows and eventually stopped returning the victim’s phone calls.

He was assigned a $2,500 signature bond Wednesday and a preliminary hearing has been scheuled for April 11.
