Caledonia Man Held on Multiple Counts Against Girlfriend

Police say Joshua Tobler is in custody for battery, disorderly conduct and false imprisonment.

Joshua Tobler is being held in the Racine County jail on multiple counts, including battery and disorderly conduct, misdemeanor domestic abuse, false imprisonment and theft from a person. If convicted of all charges, Tobler faces up to 17 years in prison and up to $46,000 in fines.

The criminal complaint against Tobler states that he and his girlfriend got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation after Tobler accused her of having a relationship with a fellow student in a class at University of Wisconsin-Parkside when Tobler picked his girlfriend up from school.

According to the complaint, the young woman dropped Tobler off at his brother's house before going back to their apartment on 3-Mile Road. When Tobler arrived and found the doors locked, he banged on the door and his girlfriend said she let him in to avoid any further disturbance. Upon entering the apartment, Tobler head-butted the victim, grabbed her arms and shook her, pulled her hair, and choked her while threatening to kill her.
