A 49-year-old Caledonia man was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening in Racine, according to the Racine Police Department.
Ty Steinmetz hit a vehicle head-on as he was traveling eastbound in the 700 block Washington Avenue at about 6:15 p.m. According to police, Steinmetz crossed over the center line and struck an oncoming Chevy Impala.
The accident, which occurred near the police station, was heard by a Racine police investigator who was entering the building.

"The investigator exited the garage and discovered the accident on Washington Ave.," Racine police said in a statement.
Steinmetz was taken to Wheaton-Franciscan-All Saints Hospital and then transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life. He was listed in critical condition, according to Racine Police. No one was injured in the vehicle that was struck.
