Caledonia Woman Accused of Stealing Dad's Credit Card

Suspect allegedly takes her dad's credit card, uses it for cash advances and tries to hide the theft by taking his mail.

A 48-year-old Caledonia woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole her dad’s credit card then used it to take money from his bank account.

Rebecca R. Vassh-Harris was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Friday with three counts of felony identity theft and three counts of fraud against a financial institution. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison and $60,000 in fines.

On Aug. 6, the victim contacted Caledonia Police officers after he realized his credit card was stolen and he suspected his daughter had taken it. He said the Vassh-Harris had most likely taken the card while he was out of town and had been taking his mail in an effort to cover up the theft, but he discovered three withdrawals had been made in cash advances at in June, for a total loss of $909.

Officers went to the bank and got surveillance video footage of the transactions and the victim confirmed it was Vassh-Harris making the transactions.

She’s currently being held in Racine County Jail on a $5,000 signature bond.
