Caledonia Woman Racks Up $600 In Bank Fees, Boyfriend Threatens Banker

The woman learned a difficult lesson: that having a debit card linked to your checking account can be expensive if you don't manage them well. The woman's boyfriend, on the other hand, got a lesson in how not to make threats to bank managers.

A man, who was angry about being charged bank fees, allegedly threatened to beat up a bank manager at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012.

Charles Chambers, 48, of , was cited for disorderly conduct over the phone and disorderly conduct. A state charge for intimidation of a witness will also be sought.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, Chambers allegedly made the threats against the manager at , 4930 Douglas Ave. Chambers’ girlfriend used her debit card and wrote checks against the account, but she didn’t have enough money to cover them and she racked up almost $600 in bank fees.

Chambers told the manager he didn’t have enough money to put into the account and he was angry that the bank had kept charging him fees. The manager explained that the bank had forgiven over $90 in fees and the bank wasn’t adding any more fees.

Chambers cursed at his girlfriend when he asked her if that was true.

The next day, Chambers called the manager and told him he would beat him up, and slash his tires.
