Fire At Home Construction Site, No Foul Play Suspected

A fire broke out at a Caledonia home that was under construction, but the cause is undetermined, according to officials with the Caledonia Police Department.

An arson investigation was conducted after a home under construction was found on fire at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 9217 Prairie Crossing Drive.

Sgt. Gary Larsen, of the Caledonia Fire Department, said that after the arson investigation was conducted the cause of the fire remains undetermined, but no foul play is suspected.

Joe Carini, a contractor working on the home, told police he came to the home to work, and discovered that an island in the kitchen was smoldering, according to a report by the Caledonia Police Department.

Carini noted that there was a hole in the floor and some painters had been at the home the day before. Lt. Jason Hempel, of the Caledonia Fire Department, told police that some of the floor joists under the hole in the floor were burned and the door was unlocked.
