Four Men Charged with Felony Theft

They allegedly sold scrap metal for thousands of dollars.

Four men are accused of taking thousands of dollars in scrap metal and selling it for cash at a scrap yard in Racine.

Brandan Szabo, 19, of Franksville, Jacob Olszewski, 19, of Kansasvile, Jessy Kujac, 18, of Franksville and Jarrett D Ayres, 20, of Franksville were each charged with a felony count of theft by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office today.

If the men are found guilty, they face up to 10 years of prison, up to $25,000 in fines or both.

According to a criminal complaint, an employee of the AWI Company, 14105 Two Mile Rd., reported that $7,200 worth of stainless steel and aluminum metal was missing from their yard.

An employee from Miller Compressing in Racine told investigators with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department that they were familiar with Szabo and provided investigators with a sales history and dates. Between June 10 and Aug. 18, Szabo allegedly sold the metal and received $10,779 between Miller Compressing’s two facilities.

When police spoke to Szabo, he confessed to taking the metal from AWI along with Ayres, Olszewski and Kujac. Szabo said that Ayres bought a Mustang and Kujac bought a dirt bike. Szabo’s brother, who is a minor, was also involved in the theft.
