Franksville Woman Allegedly Drives Drunk With Young Daughter

Lori Spang, 46, of Franksville, was cited for drunk driving with a child under the age of 16-years-old in the vehicle.

A woman was arrested under suspicion of drunk driving (1st offense) with her eight-year-old daughter in the car at 5:27 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 on Four Mile Road just west of Old Farm Road. The woman’s husband called the police after his mother tried to prevent the woman from leaving in her van with the girl, who was a passenger.

Lori Spang, 46, of Franksville, was cited for drunk driving with a child under the age of 16-years-old in the vehicle.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, Spang was driving the van when police conducted a traffic stop. She told them that she “had a tall glass of juice,” which had about 9 percent alcohol in it.

Officers asked Spang to perform a field sobriety test, which she failed and they took her to the hospital to get a blood draw, which was sent to the State Crime Lab.

A family member told police Spang was addicted to pain killers and alcohol, that she needed back surgery but refused to go to physical therapy and “had been doctor shopping for pain killers,” according to the report.

Charges are pending until the Racine County District Attorney’s Office receives the results and decides on whether charges should be issued.
