When police approached Gonzalez, he said he didn’t know where he was and was upset with his girlfriend so he went for a drive. Police noted that Gonzalez had trouble keeping his balance and he smelled like alcohol. Gonzalez failed a field sobriety test so officers took him to the hospital to get a legal blood draw.

Initially he refused to give the blood and swore at officers saying it was illegal to force someone to give their blood.

“It’s going to take 80 of you (expletive) to get my blood. This (expletive) is illegal,” he reportedly shouted at police and hospital staff.

According to the report, officers explained that since this was a criminal matter, they were collecting the blood as evidence, per the Racine County Distrit Attorney’s policy. After being verbally combative for a while, Gonzalez allowed staff to take a blood draw.

Gonzalez was taken to the Racine County Jail. Charges are pending the results of the blood draw.
