Grandma Scammed Out Of Thousands Of Dollars

These scammers called twice.

An elderly woman was scammed out of $6,034.46 after a woman, who sounded like the victim’s daughter, told her she was in jail in Peru.

According to a report by the , the woman received a phone call from a woman claiming to be her granddaughter in Peru and she had been charged with speeding and smoking marijuana.

The woman started to cry and a man got on the phone, and told the victim that his name was “Ryan Phillips.” He told the victim she needed to pay $2,891 to get her granddaughter out of jail.

The next day, the man called and told he needed $2,8000. The man said the granddaughter would call her after she got of jail. When the call never came, the victim talked with her real granddaughter, who was not in Peru, and the woman realized she had been scammed.
