Kmart Employee Charged With Stealing Money From Store

Suspect tells officers she is a single mother and is seven months pregnant and needs money.

A 24-year-old Racine woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole money from a cash register while working at a Caledonia department store.

Samantha J. Heusdens was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of theft. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

Caledonia police officers were called to Tuesday after a security officer discovered Heusdens had taken a total of $85 from a cash register on four separate occasions. The thefts occurred on Aug. 4, 7, 11 and Sunday.

Officers then confronted Heusdens about the theft and she said she’s a single mother who is seven months pregnant and lives with her disabled father. She said she’s having money issues and admitted to taking the cash from the store.

She’s currently being held in Racine County Jail on a $200 signature bond while awaiting trial.

"She's a single mother who is seven months pregnant and lives with her disabled dad." She could have gotten free birth control pills from the Lord Obama. Even if she had to pay for them it would have been cheaper than legal fees, a $10K and $200 bond. Plus she probably lost her job so now all us taxpayers can pay for her and her babies upkeep.
