Man Arrested For Allegedly Driving While Drugged

Caledonia Police arrest the man, who started driving erratically in Oak Creek.

Caledonia Police arrested a man under suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and a traffic violation Monday morning.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police, Nicco DeRango, 21, of Caledonia, drove his car erratically at 7:49 a.m.Β  Monday, May 16 on Six Mile Road and Elderberry Road.

A witness told police she saw DeRango, the driver of the car, responding to traffic signals slowly and it appeared to her that he was either dozing or texting. DeRango would slow down, then speed up and drifted from lane to lane, striking curbs. When the woman tried to call the Oak Creek Police Department, she wasn’t able to connect with them and the call was connected to Caledonia.

After DeRango failed a field sobriety test, he was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for a mandatory blood draw. Charges have not been filed as police are waiting for the results.
